I've been a fan of the story within a story since I read The Princess Bride. this book very much honoured the spirit of that novel.

this beautifully crafted fantasy romance did the absolute most magical thing I could ever imagine. it treated the MFC like a real woman. her character had motivations that were familiar to any woman who has ever had to deal with a difficult situation. she led with logic and not simpering emotion. she thought her way through romance and made choices that were in her own realistic best interest. it was an absolutely refreshing read.

Having followed the original shorts that started the adventure, it is wonderful to hear Jill reading the audio. A very satisfactory transformation from one format to another with plenty of humor and even cheese.

From a brilliant collection of YouTube shorts, to a full novel, this first time author has done a great job of realizing her characters and creating a story worth listening to.

Remembering that she is not a profession Narrator, Jill has done a good job of both narrating her story and giving each character their individual voice.

This is not your stock romance tale, as the characters do what they want and the author has to argue and cajole them back onto the outline. This is a 4th wall breaking meta comedy that I can not recommend enough.
