Story
When Jeanette Winterson left home at 16 because she was in love with a woman, Mrs. Winterson asked her: "Why be happy when you could be normal?" This book is the story of a life's work to find happiness. It is the story of how the painful past returned to haunt Jeanette's later life, and send her on a journey into madness and out again, in search of her real mother. It is also a book about other people's stories, showing how fiction and poetry can form a string of guiding lights, a life raft which supports us when we are sinking.

Love her
I have only read two of her books, but I love her language, style and her honesty. She is incredibly refreshing, I could listen and or read her books all day. I highly recommend this podcast, not just for her readers but also for people who write or want to write.

stunning
Jeanette Winterson is funny, clever, irreverent and irrepressible, both down to earth with her anecdotes and yet simultaneously she has her head in the 'multiverse'. Everything she says and writes is inspiring at some level. She lives a bigger life than many of us can dream of. She mines every ordinary and extraordinary interaction for jewels and nuggets that she fashions into astonishingly beautiful jewelry for the reader to adorn themselves with. It's spiritual fodder for feeding the inner-life. Listen to this and be nourished. I'm someone whose life has been in/trans/ formed by her. I've told her how she has touched my life, listen to her, read her work and feel touched too.
