Publisher's Summary

I don’t want Jason Vega. Not at all. It’s the worst idea ever. Ah, hell...

Jason is handsome. Smart. Dangerous. Hot. He’s goddamn gorgeous - but he’s also sleeping on the street, hanging out with the local biker gang, and selling his body for a living.

Our lives, our paths, couldn’t be further apart. I’m crawling toward the light while he’s falling into the dark.

But it doesn’t matter how different we are or what logic dictates.

I really shouldn’t want Jason Vega - but I just can’t stop.

He’s under my skin and sinking deeper....

Trigger warning: violence and sexual abuse. This is a M/M (gay) romance that tells the story of Jason and Raine, who appeared in the Damage Control series. It is super hot and angsty and violent but with a guaranteed happily-ever-after.

What a ride

Jagged edge blew me away 🌪. This was my first book by jo raven, and won’t be my last. This book is not your sugary sweet romance. It’s rough, raw and some parts were hard to listen to, but it is a romance and it does have a happy ending.

Almost returned this...but....

Jo, once you got going, you caught me. The character development was strained for me for a little while, and I honestly came close a few times in the first half on giving up, but when I was just about to call it quits, you intrigued me with "something". Glad I stuck it out. It's a powerful story in so many ways. And overall, it is a memorable read.

Teddy/Iggy, good job.

Listener, try this book, and hang in there with the characters. It is not for the squeamish or faint of heart, some of the subject matter is really intense, and yes, I mean really intense, but it was well worth the push thru to the last half...well worth it.

I Wanted More... Something

I believe this is a first for me by this author. I don’t really know what I was expecting, this cover is what jumped out at me and I had to listen.

I liked the characters and their connection, but it kind of felt one-sided for the most part. Jason really goes through the wringer in this story and I sometimes didn’t think Raine understood the situation Jason was in. I wanted him to care more for this man he was lusting after.

I think this book could have been freaking great but it was just too slow, and I wanted more magnetize between these characters I wanted to feel their lust and romantic need for each other. I just didn’t feel it.

It wasn’t terrible or anything I guess I just wanted more.

I loved the narration Teddy’s voice is YUM. Is that a descriptive word, haha NO but I don’t care it is what it is.

Lots of Angst

This is my first book by this author (audio or otherwise).

It's a m/m romance about two broken boys - Jason (a hooker) and Raine (the younger brother of a character - Ocean - from a previous book). Both guys have endured horrific childhoods but have chosen to deal with the pain differently.

I liked both characters however, the amount of inner dialog just about drove me crazy.

The sex is smokin' hot (have a fan near you).

Having two narrators worked okay here - would have been okay with just one too.

So so...

I loved Jo Raven’s Candy Boys for the story, writing style, and phenomenal performance. The narrators here did a great job as well, but the story was so angst-filled that I was tempted to skip forward. It became annoyingly redundant - a perpetual “boy (sorta) gets boy; boy loses boy.” It needed a good editor. Unlike the sex scenes in Candy Boys, the sex scenes in JE were uninspired. Overall, it felt a bit forced.

Strong performance couldn’t save this

The Teddy/Iggy team of readers were great, but such repetitious unimaginative writing and a totally predictable plot overcame their talent. Really, gays should demand better than this c**p.

Uggghhhhhh my poor heart!!!!!!

...okay so normally, I get turned off by characters who go back and forth with their feelings because lets face it, it's annoying. Either you love the person or you don't! But oh my God, Raine and Jason's story is so different; yes it's back and forth but there's so much going on in the background for them both that you bite the bullet and just endure the angst and heart ache between these two complicated but beautifully flawed characters. I haven't read Jo Raven's previous books that seem to tie in to Jagged Edge (in terms of characters not necessarily plots/cliffhangers) but I don't feel like you need to in order to fully understand the story. So long story short, this story is about a boy, Raine, who meets another boy, Jason, who happens to be a prostitute, who doesn't understand why he's starting to have feelings for him but then soon realizes he cannot breathe without him and who's beyond repairing but can be saved. You follow the story of Raine and Jason as they both go through angst, heart ache, and hurt but then they learn to trust, feel and love and it's all totally worth the tears and goosebumps and the one sleepless night I endure because yes, I read this book in one sitting, 24 hrs.

The title fits...

This was a book that was out of my comfort zone. Mostly because it was dark in a lot of places. It eventually merge out of the darkness as most books do. It was entertaining enough for me to finish the book though. I still don't know what Simon's obsession was though! Or why Rain's Parents were the way they were. I was still left with some questions.

Great story.

I loved the story. It kept me interested and wanting to know what happened next. But the narration was hard to follow the voices at times. Also. The voice of Jason seemed older than it should have. But that could just be my idea.

AMAZING

It's all been said before - but normal words don't cover it - this book - this story is a step above - Raine and Jason resonate - you feel the pain, the sadness - the tenacious holding on for tomorrow - we felt it! One of Jo's best - don't miss it!
