Very unique
Well paced, great worldbuilding, interesting characters and a gripping plot. The characters aren’t the most out there or original but they are well written and very believable. The story is about family, honour, and moral questions. The magic system is cool to read but is more scientific than magic.

Entertaining!
This book was so interesting and entertaining. It follows a family of Green Bone warriors who use jade to enhance their abilities to protect the country from invaders, but issues between two rival gangs has refocused their attentions. There's so many plot twists and the characters are amazing. Highly recommend!

Good narration, great book
I really loved this book! The worldbuilding, plot, magic system, and characters were all really well-constructed and it was a really enjoyable read. The narration was good and easy to understand although quite a few of the made-up words were pronounced inconsistently in alternating different ways. But overall a great audiobook and I'll be going on to read the sequels in this format too.

Asian inspired fantasy with a Mafia twist
An enjoyable read even if it was hard to really attach to any of the characters, not at the fault of the reader as he portrayed each character brilliantly, more at the distance given by the author to observe the characters within their surroundings. It is a wonderful cross between Ninja Mythos and The Godfather, with Jade being the central force that gives power to the 'green bone' fighters.
Besides remarkable storytelling and perfectly crafted action scenes, I did feel a little hampered down but the heavy masculine presence and that strong female characters were few and far between.
