Sweet and Protected

Would you consider the audio edition of Ivan to be better than the print version?

If I. I really had fun reading Ivan.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Ivan?

When Ivan ask Erin to move in and say I love you.

Which character – as performed by Pinky Powell – was your favorite?

IVAN... I Love everything Ivan was in the story.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

All of it.

Any additional comments?

Just read this book. Even though it's short I still had a good time reading it with the audio.

Here come the Russians !! Oh Yeah

With this it doesn't even matter if everything seems plausible or not.The plot was cool, the Russians hot, what more can you ask for in a curl up in a chair to read book. Oh yeah a good narration, well it had that too. Fun fun fun

Fabulous storytelling, great concept

What a delicious surprise!! I grabbed this book as a free read over at Amazon and then picked up the audio book fro a song at Audible, best idea of the week! I heartily suggest doing the same!

I went into this thinking it would be a quick listen but not expecting much, boy was I wrong. This story had me hooked from the first scene. Fabulous storytelling that really moved, no dull moments here, Not my typical fair, I generally prefer paranormal, but I am definitely looking into the rest of the series. Really engaging characters and dynamic gritty plot.

Erin is really sweet and a little naive, if she were any less sweet she might have annoyed me. For the most part she was smart enough to deffer to Ivan, who is a master of his seedy world. And what a yummy protector he is!

The romance really jumps into the steamy, only about a day of knowing each other, but I am willing to chalk it up to love at first sight. Okay, lust at first site. There are some truly delicious steamy scenes in this short read. I girl might need a cool shower or a hot man after!

Ms. Rivera is a new author to me but she is definitely one to watch. This series is really unique and deliciously hot! Erin has several girlfriends who are ripe for finding their own protectors in Ivan's pals. Can't wait to see the sparks fly and get into the gritty plots!

Pinky Powell does a terrific job with the narration. She really kept the pace of the book and moved the story along. Not a lot of variety in the voices but still kept them distinct. I would love to hear more from her in the future both in this series and elsewhere.

Under 3 hrs - Start to a fun series

So I have mixed feelings about this book. I'm apparently going through a mobster phase so these Russians were next on my list. The rest of the series comes in at the normal(ish) length you expect from books but this first one is under 3 hours. (Don't waste a credit - just buy it.)

Erin is searching for her pill-popping/shooting sister on the streets of Houston and turns to a brutish Russian guy who runs a fight training facility. The story is rushed, but the timing would suggest that. Ivan is a heavily tattooed orphan that will be our introduction to a group of single hot Russian mafia guys. There's not much else to tell without ruining the short story.

My main beef with it is that with the interesting books to come, why sell this one short? Perhaps going back and bulking it up would have been a good idea before bringing it forward because the author loses the change to give her first couple a good story. Instead, it feels rushed. There's also the setup - a group of orphaned single guys with no loves in their lives meets a group of single girls with shady parental backgrounds. It's took good a setup for a series and life doesn't always end up this way... but we're in this for another reason, amIrightladies? So it's forgiven.

A bit confused... it this a full volume?

I like the whole Russian ex-gangster protector...but why is he protecting her, from what... I am just a bit confused... Story reads pretty well, but just jumps right into action... so I was a bit confused... I think I will reserve final judgment until the complete collection comes out... So for now... No recommendation...

Narration was just ok...

UNDERNEATH THESE RUSSIAN SINNERS LIE SEXY SAINTS

Erin is desperate and her last hope is Ivan the intimidating tattooed Russian but she'll do nearly anything to save her sister Rose from the hole of drugs and bad choices that she's dug herself. When tough guy Ivan first lays eyes on Erin the games over because he knows he'll do anything and risk everything to keep her safe.... and hopefully keep her for himself too.

This listen was under 3 hrs but it packed a lot in as it sucks you into the seedy world Rose has gotten herself in where the Mexican gang, Albanian gang and now the Russians are all after her. So Erin's frustration and desperation rises but the one person she can now depend on is Ivan. The romance is tender hot and quick but it has to be, the excitement is high as the bad guys come for Erin and Erin can see that underneath Ivan's gruff exterior, and his previous mob life, lies the heart of a teddy bear.

Great narration and well worth the $4.86.... just wish it had been longer.

Good mafia romantic suspense!

Roxie Rivera's first installment of "Her Russian Protector" series may be short, but don't let that stop you from listening. She packs this story full of suspense, passion and fierce protectiveness! Erin cannot find her drug addicted sister, and as a last resort goes to Ivan, a tattooed, muscled, Russian to help her out. She is hoping with his connections and reputation, that he can help her find Rose. From the very start of this book, you are pulled into the story, trying to figure out where Rose is, is she alive, does the Albanian gang have her, and can Ivan and his crew save her. Ivan will win your heart, seeing his soft side right through his gruff exterior. He will do anything to keep Erin safe, and being the smart girl she is, she will let him! Pinky Powell gives this story a good narration with her various voices and her good Russian accent. If you are looking for a quick, hot mafia romance, this is the one for you!

A very fast romance.

Any additional comments?

After just finishing in Kelly's Corner I wanted to go back and read / listen to the original series that the book spun off from.  Now Iread Ivan back in 2013.  Ive read way too many books for all the details to stick clearly in my mind, so I wanted a refresher.  I saw I could get the Audible for $1.99, I jumped on it.

The narration will make or break an Audible for me.  Pinky did ok.  Her male voices were wonderful. However she had a group of three girlfriends talking and they all sounded the same.  There were also times where she sounded very monotone. It felt like she was reading something she found boring.

The story overall is still a three stars same as last time.  A very fast romance, mixed with danger. Not too bad....Sara

A Great Start To A New Series!

Would you consider the audio edition of Ivan to be better than the print version?

As I had an audio companion to the book, I had the best of both worlds.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Ivan?

It was just full of sweet moments.

Have you listened to any of Pinky Powell’s other performances? How does this one compare?

This fairs very well love the Russian accents.

Any additional comments?

Loved this book, a short and sweet story that does exactly what it says on the cover.

His name is Ivan and he is her Russian Protector.
