Publisher's Summary
A dazzling Audible Original written by Natalie Cooper, performed by Jenna Coleman (Victoria, The Cry)
Iris Nightingale is more than okay. She has her life planned out to a perfect schedule. Work, run, sleep, repeat. She spends her quiet Friday nights sitting alone on a bench in the park, trying to push back the memories that no amount of running can help her escape.
But one evening, there’s someone else on her bench - Hunter. Tall, wry and infuriating: everything about him gets under Iris’s skin. Little does she know that he's about to upset more than just her routines...
Hired as a consultant at the firm where Iris works as engineering manager, Hunter has a knack for knowing just what to say to irritate her, and Iris can’t help rising to the spark in his eyes each time.
Sent away on a work trip together, Iris is taken out of her comfort zone. As their connection deepens, will Iris finally be able to face the memories that have been haunting her for years? Can her blossoming relationship with Hunter survive some brutal truths?
Only one thing is certain: The spark between them is beyond Iris’s expertise, and there's no running away from it.

Tongs
The book had an unintended hilarious twist that in the intimate scenes it sounded like the narrater was saying "Tongs" where they meant "Tongues". I'm pretty sure this is a me problem though ad the narration was otherwise fantastic.
The characters were likeable. I will re listen but if I'm honest it will mostly be for the mental images of Tongs in an absurd setting.

A really sweet listen
The story is slightly too long but it's worth sticking out to the end for a very gentle and sweet finale. Some really beautiful themes around being kind to yourself and processing grief to open yourself up to a second chance at love. Stellar narration made this an easy listen

Good narration
This was a typical romance novel, if that’s what you are looking for it’s perfect. No adventure, no mystery no substance.

Iris is a PITA
Iris is NOT ok, she's a complete nut job. If I knew this woman in real life I would scream and tear my hair out. She's so self-absorbed and has absolutely no ability to think anyone else in the world has feelings / a life / other family / other commitments. The book is good and the narrator is great, but the protagonist is a nightmare.

The story pulls you in
You know from the start how the story will play out; how it will end. But the writing and the superb narrator pull you in. I really enjoyed this story. A little bit of fluff to entertain.

Iris took a while to be ok
An easy listen, nice story pretty predictable, good narration (must say I've never heard that pronunciation of tongue - tongs), bit long so it did take quite a while for Iris to get to being OK.

Chewing Gum for the Brain - just what I needed
Look, it’s a reasonably predictable romance, the “twist” becoming apparent about an hour before it is revealed, but it is an easy and engaging listen. If you are looking for an easy listen with a protagonist with a complicated romantic history in a romance novel with a dashing suitor, this will satisfy. If you are looking for a blood and guts murder mystery, it likely won’t - choose wisely. Excellent narration by Jenna Coleman (young Victoria herself!), proper English pronunciation of “tongue” alone makes it worthy of a listen! 😆
