El tema del poema es el desasosiego, el inconformismo propio de la condición humana: el ansia de querer ser otro, la repulsa hacia lo nuestro y el anhelo de lo que tiene el otro, que puede llegar incluso a matar si se convierte en obsesión (de ahí quizá el título "Muerte"). Federico García Lorca fue un poeta y dramaturgo español nacido en 1868 en Fuente Vaqueros, Granada. Perteneciente a la Generación del 27, se relacionó con muchos de los escritores e intelectuales más importantes de España, como Luis Buñuel, Rafael Alberti o Salvador Dalí.
