Still feeling guilty and grieving the deaths of his wife and child, and alone except for his faithful dog, Cora, widower Killian Hart is building a mountain cabin near Fort Collins. He isn’t expecting a handsome man to literally fall into his arms. Plumber Archer Montgomery is also grieving his recent divorce so he’s jumped at the chance to do some renovation work for his family building company on some cabins but he’s not expecting his ladder to slip. Despite the meet cute, both men dislike each other on sight and have many terse exchanges before they start to see the good in each other. Unfortunately, things start to go wrong with Killian’s cabin and it becomes clear that it’s personal. Can Archer and Killian overcome their sorrows to start gain new leases on life?

This is MM romantic suspense story in one of the many series involving the huge Montgomery family. I’ve only read one other book and I really struggled here with the vast number of family members who pop in and out of the narrative. I enjoyed the romance of the two psychologically wounded men slowly learning to trust each other but felt the suspense was a little trivial until the final denouement. It wasn’t bad or anything, I just didn’t find it that compelling. 🎧 Dream(y) team voice actors Teddy Hamilton (as Archer) and Jacob Morgan (as Killian) both performed well on the audio.
