Publisher's Summary
Lizzie Engel is used to running away. At 18, she left her Mennonite hometown, Kingdom, Kansas, with plans never to return. But five years later, the new life she built is falling apart. Lizzie knows she's being followed, and she's certain the same mysterious stranger is behind the threatening letters she's received. Realizing she'll have to run again, the only escape Lizzie can manage is a return to the last place she wants to go.
Once she arrives in Kingdom, Lizzie is confident she’ll be safe until she comes up with a new plan. In reacquainting herself with the town and its people - especially her old friend, Noah Housler - she wonders if she judged her hometown and her Mennonite faith too harshly. However, just as she begins to come to terms with her roots, Lizzie is horrified to discover the danger she ran from is closer than ever. No longer sure who to trust and fearful for her life and the lives of those around her, Lizzie finds she has only one place left to run - to the Father whose love is inescapable.

Agonizing narration
What did you like best about Inescapable? What did you like least?
Great story, but the whining voices of the narration were painfully awful. In particular, the child, who never spoke in a normal tone of voice, but most character's voices were loud and whiney. Unfortunately, even though I'd love to 'read' Book 2, I will not purchase it if this same narrator is reading the story. I thought perhaps it was just me and so passed it on without comment -alas they found the same thing.
Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Brooke Sanford Heldman?

Not bad
The story was ok but the narrators voice was annoying at times. If you can get past that it’s not too bad.

A decent book with horrible narration
I cringed as I listened to most of this book. One of the worst narration ever. All the female parts were bad, the male parts were a little more tolerable. I normally just buy Audiblebooks if I like the story line, I'm now going to make sure I listen first before purchasing.

Kind of Cheesy
Any additional comments?
The story was about a Mennonite women that leaves her judging, non loving community, then returns years later. It wasn't a very deep story, I didn't connect with the characters like I do with other novels. It kept my interest for the most part but I really didn't care for the last part of the book and found myself wanting to skip over parts just so the book would end. It was kind of cheesy. It is Christian based which I normally read, and that part I did enjoy. It wasn't over the top. I've never read a book written by Nancy Mehl and probably won't read another. Francine Rivers is my favorite author and haven't read anything of hers I haven't thoroughly enjoyed, I also enjoy Lynn Austin and some of Karen Kingsbury's novels.

Good story... terrible narrator
If you could sum up Inescapable in three words, what would they be?
Predictable, sweet, mystery
What was one of the most memorable moments of Inescapable?
When the bad guy reveals himself
How could the performance have been better?
The performance was terrible. The narrator was sighing and breathing heavy through the whole thing. She depicts the characters with high pitch whiny voices. Massive drama is added to the most mundane conversations. I listen to a lot of audiobooks and wanted to stop listening this even though I enjoyed the story because the narrator was so bad.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
No, it was pretty predictable who the bad guy was but I was glad when it was finally revealed.
