Going on the attack.

After the attack on his life is thwarted, Anthony decides to deal with Custodes Daemonium once and for all. Everything began with them. They were the ones who sent Brianna after him, forcing him to embrace his true nature as the world's only Incubus, and while part of him was grateful because it gave him a wonderful bondmate, that didn't mean he planned to let them enslave him.

Fortunately, Custodes Daemonium is currently fighting a civil war. Trinity, leader of the War Maidens and the moderate faction that wants to ally with Anthony, is battling against Chloe and Hendricks—a pair of warhawks who want to enslave him.

The choice of who to side with is clear.

But to reach Trinity and aid her, Anthony must first travel to New Denver, where they will have to face off against Dr. Elena Vance, the CEO of ZenithCorp, known for creating the most advanced AI in the entire world.

Narrated in duet style.

This continues the story of Anthony's reawakening as an incubus and taking a position in society, as he and his harem destroy the society that attempted to kill him in the previous book. It didn't quite go in the direction I expected in the last couple of books, with no new bondmates introduced after Marianne.

Anthony's relationships with his harem members continue to feel important, with real emotional connection and love. And the action and explicit spicy scenes are still great, too.

Writing quality is much the same as with the rest of the series, and still typical of self-published KU. There are lots of errors, but the author's writing style is such that, even while my brain notes them and corrects them as I go, they don't interrupt the flow too badly. There are quite a few little inconsistencies in this book, though, which I found more distracting.

Audiobook narration is excellent. I'm not sure if Daniel's habit of pronouncing some phrases slightly too slowly and drawn out has improved from earlier books or if I've just become used to it. Either way, I have nothing to complain about here. And Rebecca continues to be great; her Brianna in particular is wonderful.

Overall I really enjoy this series. The world is grand and interesting, even if much of it is only hinted at through occasional details; it seems a shame that the author hasn't written more stories about other people in other parts of it, like this single series is only scratching the surface. Perhaps he will branch out and explore more of the world from a different point of view once this series is finished.

Anyway, I'm looking forward to Volume 7.

Still great
