Story
Evie hangs her head in sorrow for just a moment when she knows she is truly alone. She feels like she's going to her execution, just as he had said. Then she moves forward again. She hops a fence of fieldstone and crosses a field dotted with Queen Anne's lace. Goose bumps rise on her arms as she passes the cluster of windmills that she's seen in a dream. The scent is sweet in the field though, not the scent of heat, like it had been when it was forced upon her in visions.

Story
Evie doesn't open her eyes so she can't see him, but she can smell him. He thickens the air she breathes, choking her with his scent... his aroma. She shivers. She has to resist. If she's not strong, then she will be relegated to the same fate as this predator whose sickness infects her even now. But now, she craves him and he knows that; he has been counting on her need to end the gnawing pain. How he would savor her surrender. She's alive, but how much longer will it take until she begs him not to be?

I gasp as my body curls toward Brennus like a flower to the sun, for the pleasure of it. He holds me close to him. His nose grazes the length of my neck. He breathes me in. I feel the roar and rush of my heartbeat. I'm his toy; his energy streams into me. He winds the invisible key in my back, and the euphoria ratchets and coils inside of me.

Story
Since moving to Mystic Harbor, Maine, I've made it my life's mission to avoid Reese Blackburn at all costs. Sure, he has cheekbones that could cut glass, not to mention bedroom eyes that could melt any girl into a puddle on the floor. Too bad that doesn't change the fact he's completely stab-worthy. When a fun night out on the town turns deadly, I quickly discover the quaint little hamlet of Mystic Harbor houses more than sandy beaches and adorable B&Bs. Beneath the New England charm rests a world where shifters, demons, vampires, and angelic hunters all vie for power.

Good premise
- By Wendy L. Brown on 11-12-2018
Publisher's Summary
Cold, fine drops of rain fall softly on Evie's cheeks as she emerges from the darkness of the ship's interior to the gray, overcast sky of the main deck. Pulling her dark peacoat tighter to her body, the wind lifts red tendrils of her hair. She walks slowly to the railing overlooking the water. She catches her first sight of the Irish coastline; its craggy landscape makes her shiver in dread. She finds it difficult to imagine now how the Gancanagh had made this their home for so long without anyone realizing it. The cold, moss-covered edifices practically scream their presence. As she studies the shadows between the falling-down stone, she imagines creeping shapes of undead Faeries grasping the rock, waiting for their ship to draw nearer to their position. Tipping her face up, she lets the rain wash over her. It bathes away the frigid sweat of fear that has broken on her brow. "You don't know how fiercely beautiful you are, do you?" a quiet voice behind her asks, causing her to stiffen and fix her eyes on the rocks along the shoreline.

Got to love Angels!
This book seemed to drag more than the others in the series. The drag started after Evie met her father. It did pick up a little toward the end. Narrator is great! I get Evie's character but she did a lot of whining. I wanted her to get a backbone, and just go after her man. I mean Reed is definitely worth it to her.

I am very disappointed in this book. it should have been the book that closes the story. it is the same story as book 3 with the addition of 3 characters. would have been ok except it leaves the characters in the same situation as book 3. I won't bother buying the next book when it comes out.

the love triangle continues...
Everyone is still after Evie! Russell her soul mate wants her back because their souls belongs to each other. Evie's angel Reed is equivalent to being her husband is fighting to keep her and Brennas the faery vampire king is hunting her down. Reinforcements are called in to keep Evie safe from Brennas and it turns out to be Tao the highest ranking seraphim angel in paradise and he also happens to be Evie's father. Evie is uncertain in meeting her father until he shows up with his cronies and it turns out Evie has met him and his cronies before. Evie starts having flash backs of being in paradise and in love but the love wasn't Russell or Reed, she doesn't know what to think about that. The book is action packed and Evie is becoming a leader among the angels that might even rival her father's command. The plot thickens and I need the next book!

Audiobook needs a better engineer
Love the narrator, but the engineer or audio editor left in WAY TOO MUCH swallowing sounds. It became so very annoying, that I finished the book by reading it. (I was interchanging between reading and listening depending on what I was doing)
I loved the previous book, but this one seemed drawn out. Became redundant with the enemies and all the back and forth over and over again.
Will continue to the last book to see how it ends

Bad narrator
I cant really comment on the story because the narrator was terrible! Her voice was a slow unchanging monotone at times then she began to go too fast. When she did go fast speed I couldnt understand a word she was speaking. But the worse part is when she takes a deep breath at times. The deep breath thing was just above and beyond annoying. I just turned it off a few pages into chapter 1. Might be a good book but a bad narrator can ruin it.

Evie gets on my last nerve
Evie's whiney, stubborn, irrational, over-emotional personality is grating. She's been on enough adventures that she should've developed some sort of thick skin instead of remaining a weak-minded female. It makes it really hard to understand how Evie is so appealing to every man when she's so annoying. If you can withstand Evie's annoying personality - its a good story. I will only finish the series because I've already been through all of the other books and might as well complete the series.

Almost great
What didn’t you like about Emily Woo Zeller’s performance?
The dry mouth and swallowing was so consistent and very distracting.
Any additional comments?
This is a wonderful series but I especially loved books 3 & 4. I just wish the narration did not have the additional "sounds". Otherwise Emily Woo Zeller is fantastic.
I really liked all the characters. Amy even had me caring for the bad guys!

GREAT STORY BUT.......
The story is wonderful, however its the same over and over. Everyone is in love with her, Reed treats her like she is his possession, she is a smart ass and back talks to everyone and it all surrounds her. not really about the others. I would love to hear about the fairies more or even the other angels. Or ANYONE else really. The main character just gets really annoying!!! and its very predictable.

Great book brilliantly read
If you could sum up Incendiary in three words, what would they be?
excellent well read
What did you like best about this story?
All 4 books are easy listening, very well narrated and good storyline. From a purely personal perspective I wanted Evie to grow a bit more of a spine!, it gets a bit long in the tooth being fearful for everyone all the time…come on you’re an Angel! And all your friends are Angels...
What about Emily Woo Zeller’s performance did you like?
Emily Woo Zeller’s narration continues to be excellent and consistent accents between all characters. She play Evie very well!
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
If I had to, then yes I would, it is very easy listening
Any additional comments?
These are all great books for all types of people, easy to get into.
