About this listen

Steven’s mother is the greatest grim reaper in the afterlife.

Steven? Not so much.

Dead 14 years and counting, he’s brash, headstrong, and definitely still in training. While shadowing his mom at work, a chance encounter with a dangerous demon leaves her gravely injured and Steven stranded. With the rising of the full moon, all forms of travel between the realms of the afterlife have been cut off, including any that might take Steven back home. Now every demon in New Orleans wants a piece of Steven’s injured mother. He’s also got one other problem.

Leonard just died, but that’s the least of his worries. He can’t go to Heaven, Purgatory, or anywhere else while the full moon is up. He’s stuck with an inexperienced reaper in a New Orleans full of dangerous spirits and a world with rules he doesn’t understand.

And worst of all? The thing that killed him isn’t done with them yet.

But maybe, together, they can find the courage to survive the night and face the demons who will stop at nothing to devour their souls before the next sunrise.
