‘Isabel Allende is a master storyteller. When it comes to love Isabel writes from the heart to the heart and I feel all the richer for having been touched by her’ (Santa Montefiore)
‘If Allende's life depended on her narrative gifts, she'd not only survive, but reign’
Isabel Allende is the most romantic of writers and this is a novel of high romance and lush sensuality, unashamedly about the enduring power of love and ending on a note of grace’
Lush storytelling, with a liberal dusting of South American magical realism and a multi-generational narrative sweep’
‘A gripping and tender tribute to the human heart’

Refreshing, moving, heartbreaking, a bit of adventure and fun. Luciana is a great non-stereotypical female protagonist. Im now going to listen to everything I can by this author.

Really great twist of how these 3 characters come together. I enjoyed their own individual stories. I was grateful for the insight into Guatemala and Mexican culture. Something you never really hear about. Most of it being sad, horrific and traumatic. Thank you Isabel for bringing some their hardships to life!
The only downside was the Narration I thought Richards voice was dreary and hard to listen too. My favourite voice was Evelyns. Just personal preference though! :)

Great Twist and Insightful

I found this novel rather tedious. Persisted in listening to the end but didn’t enjoy it. Characters lacked authenticity. Prefer narration in one voice

Uninspired by this story.

Isabelle Allende is one of my favourite writers. She is a master in mixing love stories with historical events. Every time I read one of her books I learn more about south American history that put me in touch with a reality that I could never imagined! This book describes very well the pain and sorrow that the protagonists go through, yet, they find the light at the end of the tunnel. Love, hope , acceptance: the cure for everything.

Tender and informative book
