Free-spirited and easygoing Taylor Vandenberg left her hometown of Faircombe, Tennessee, as soon as she could, and in the twenty-five years since, she has rarely looked back. She wouldn't change anything about how her life has turned out—having traveled to nearly every country, never staying anywhere long enough to feel stifled. Very few things can hold her attention back in Faircombe: her sister/best friend, her precocious niece, and perhaps the prospect of riling up Brooke Watson.

Brooke has known Taylor for her entire life, given that her best friend is Taylor's younger brother. And a lifelong knowledge of Taylor means that Brooke knows she's trouble: irresponsible, takes nothing seriously, and irritatingly attractive. Unlike Taylor, Brooke loves their town so much that she's spent her adult life dedicated to making sure it doesn't get swept away like many of the other declining small cities of the American South. Taylor is a world trotting free spirit running away from home life and family and Brooke is their home town’s city manager, who is uptight and unsure.
The story is touching, heartbreaking and yet so heartwarming, it’s sad that they just can’t seem to get together. And yet they are destined to be together. Wonderful narration.

Anything Haley Cass writes is amazing and worth reading. The only disappointment I have is not being able to experience reading this book (and hearing it) for the first time again and again. Superb writing!

I loved this book by Haley Cass, I think its one of her best. The love story is sweet and spicy and you just find yourself rooting for the main characters. Great narration, impeccable performance by Anastacia Watley, one of her best too.

I was initially sceptical that my attention would be held, given the length of this one (twice as long as those that I normally listen to), but I was captivated from start to finish. I felt every emotion that the characters felt. Beautifully written and beautifully narrated.

If you have not read or listened to any Haley Cass books yet then YOU ABSOLUTELY HAVE TO! Have loved them all so far! You get completely lost in the characters worlds and her writing is truly phenomenal. Loved Anastasia Watley narration of this book to, which is an added bonus.

I LOVE Haley Cass.

She has a unique way of capturing queer love with complex characters and beautiful understated writing.

This book is just another example of that.
I loved the depth to the characters.
Beautiful small town romance feels even when you experience the world.
Honestly I think this is another one I’ll listen to again and again.

My only complaint is I would have liked a little more in depth epilogue but that’s just me. I liked a story to be buttoned up tightly with all characters getting their ending. But we didn’t get much of an ending for Ben and Savannah.
