Great and unpredictable
Really great book, there were quite a few moments where I thought I knew what the plot twist was going to be but I was happy that it wasn't that obvious. I loved Imogens narration, the only thing that brought me out of the story was that towards the end the main characters inner dialogue started to sound the same as another characters voice.

Good story but predictable twists
Enjoyed this story, it’s well told and the narrator is great. Devoured it over two days. Only problem for me was that every single twist and turn was predictable. It won’t leave you guessing whodunnit, how and why... but it’s an entertaining ride.

Good narration, lame story
If she would have settled the story after the characters university, lets say this happened 5,6 years after that, it would totally made sense, but a girl hung up on a relationship of her teens that ended more than 10 years ago its basically lame and then the rest of the story made no sense at all. I finished bc I was waiting for it to get good. Darn waste of time. The narration was good though.

I finished this, and enjoyed it while listening, but I felt that it was overall very disappointing. The climax is just silly, some of the characters are quite annoying. And their motivations are not believable. The performance is good, but otherwise, do not recommend.

Amazing Narration !
This book is okay. The story is perfectly decent and has good moments of ‘mystery’. At some point I understand what the narrator went through and how hard it can be to let go of someone we loved. HOWEVER the real reason I would recommend this book is for the amazing narration work by Imogen Church. She made this book a thousand times better and much more interesting than what I’m sure it actually is. So 5 stars to her !

Ok
Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?
Hmmm. I started reading this book from my local library...usually I start a book in hard copy then start audible version when I get the story going and sort of know what's going on...so it was time well managed. This isn't my favorite genre; I didn't find myself 'dying' to read it. I was actually disappointed at the end. I thought, this is what I waited for!?! Same thing happened in her next book, the women in cabin 10-great for the first half then just took forever to end.

Well done- I am now a Ruth Ware fan!!
"Why am I here?"- a question so many of us ask ourselves in uncomfortable social situations. This gripping story includes a great deal of introspection, and although the cast seems rather young, overall, I still found it an exciting and was not able to stop listening until the very end. What did you like most about In a Dark, Dark Wood?
it was never boring. this book just got on with the story from start to finish and had me gripped the entire way.
What does Imogen Church bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you had only read the book?
her voices were brilliant. she could do different accents and bring soul to the characters in a way that you may not get when just reading. they became more believable
Any additional comments?
really enjoyed listening to this book which i think had a lot to do with how it was narrated. i think some bits were a little predicatble but it didn't really matter as you still didn't know how it was all going to end. would recommend it for sure

Unputdownable! I loved this!
Brilliant. V enjoyable story, great atmospheric writing and exceptionally skilful and compelling narration. The pace was about right and lots of details in the plot to consider. I guessed the conclusion about three quarters of the way through but that didn't spoil my enjoyment at all. Imogen Church is such a fab narrator. I always love listening to her. Her ability to convey atmosphere is good and her mastery of different voices and accents is legendary. I would definitely read things from this author - and listen to this narrator - again.

A hen party from Hell
What could Ruth Ware have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?
Been less overly dramatic with her reading of the story
Would you listen to another book narrated by Imogen Church?
Doubtful
What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?
Boredom. I struggled to finish it
Any additional comments?
A group of not particularly likeable people get together, against the better judgement of several of them, to celebrate the hen night of one member. The main character hasn't actually seen her for years and there is obviously a lot of history in their past. Tragedy occurs but the villain of the piece is pretty predictable.
