About this listen

It's the number one rule in this beach town: don't fall for a tourist.

But Jonah Lachlan isn't like any tourist I've ever met.

He's not here for a good time, that much is obvious. In fact, the brooding, boy-next-door cutie is clearly hell-bent on being miserable. Though he's here with his best friend, he doesn't seem interested in hook-ups. Or fun. The guy brought a book to this beach full of gorgeous single gay men, for crying out loud. Who does that??

And as if he couldn't be any more confusing, he seems superhumanly immune to anyone who flirts with him. Myself included.

Just one brief encounter with him on the boardwalk was all it took. Now I can't stop thinking about him. I'm sweating in places I didn't know I was capable. I'm at a complete loss to explain my feelings. I can't let this short weekend slip by and let a guy like that go. I don't care if he's a tourist. I don't care about our cardinal rule.

I'm going to break all the rules and dive in deep with this one.

Contains mature themes.

Kent Tyler has grown up on the small touristy Dreamwood Isle off the Texan coast, which has become a summer gay mecca. He’s had his heart broken by tourists before and he’s weary of any and all offers. But vacationer Jonah Lachlan catches his attention and the two become quick friends and more. Despite his best friend Rico’s insistence that he should be, Jonah isn’t on Dreamwood for sex, and he appreciates the friendship that Kent offers, but what future do they have when they both know Kent is only in town for a long weekend?

I wasn’t enjoying this; I felt that all of the characters were overly immature. I could forgive Kent and Jonah, but I disliked the continual patronising pressure that Rico put on Jonah, dismissing any and all reservations that Jonah had. I also supremely disliked Kent’s twin brother, Adrian, who had slept with a potential boyfriend of Kent’s to prove to him that tourists can’t be trusted. However, about half way through, Kent and Jonah charmed me when they finally ignored all the terrible advice from Rico and Adrian and went their own way. From then on I loved the story—I could even bear Rico and Adrian towards the end. This is about not bowing to peer pressure and tackling romance in a way that’s true to your own values, not other people’s. 🎧 I have a real soft spot for Chris Chambers (who voices Kent) and I also enjoyed Kai Rubio (as Jonah), both narrators gave great performances on the audio! I’ll definitely chase up the rest of the series because I want to see how the author rehabilitates Adrian.

This instalove romance charmed me half way thru!

Cringe as hell the characters are shallow af( granted I only read about an hour of it ) there so judgy and the interaction they had when they first met was so bad I’m not finishing this book. They both have such a holier than thou attitude that usually changes as the book progresses but i don’t see that with this one. If it’s free give it a try I guess but it’s not worth any money or credits
