A very enjoyable fantasy realm.
A person could believe in the characters. Presented in a understandable story lines.

ok, I give up

This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?

This is really something more for action fans and those who love D&D

Has In Sylvan Shadows turned you off from other books in this genre?

No, but I won't continue the series - I didn't mind the first but was hoping the next story would bring more depth to the characters and story. The characters are very one dimensional and the story is just not anything special - good vs evil but I don't like any of the characters enough [or hate them enough!] to keep my interest

What does Victor Bevine bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Victor Bevine does a wonderful job with the narration - the voices flow seamlessly and are all identifiable - well done

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

boredom . . .

Completely enjoyed

The narrator was great in this book. I read this book many years ago and now re- experiencing it through Audible was a treat.

shit production

This book and the entirety of the drizzt saga suffers from terrible production. A pop filter would have helped.

Good for Gamers, Slow narration

The writing is good for those who want to immerse into a D&D centered story, but it is not as compelling as I would like. Salvatore does a good job with the fighting scenes, but jumps point of view too much for my taste. Despite that, I like the books. The narration is too slow by far, and I listen to most of it at 1.25 instead of 1, and during suspenseful and other scenes the narrator speaks too softly, which definitely makes it hard to hear in a car or on a bike.

Slow

The narrator does a good job. It seems like he's reading incredibly slowly. Seems to take forever.

Taking the Fight to the Forrest

What did you love best about In Sylvan Shadows?

Character interactions. While the combat is good because most of the characters do not kill/fight for a living and it takes a different tole on them... it's the dialogue that keeps you listening.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Boulder Shoulder Bros. Ivan and Pickle are always down for a fight and a laugh. I know their motives and story parts might be small but you know what to expect with dwarfs.

What about Victor Bevine’s performance did you like?

Victor always does a nice job. He does most if not all of the Drizzt books I've listened to and he is in the top 5 for FR narrators.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

Homeland.

Any additional comments?

I don't feel like you have to had read the first book in the series to understand what was happening in Sylvan Shadows. Obviously, character background helps but the story seems fairly independent.

excellent performance

the cleric quintet is not my absolute favorite of Salvatore. though it is an enjoyable listen that I did not regret purchasing. Victor Bevine excellently portrayed all the parts. He hit the role of 'the bouldershoulder brothers' right on the mark, greatly adding to the comic relief.

Unlike part 1

Not as full of a story as part 1. If you are eager to complete the series, this book is for you.
