Michael's story is one of hope over despair. Power in weakness. Triumph over tragedy.; James Ray, Head of 4M UK

On New Year's Day 2019, Michael Cabezas sat in a bathroom cubicle weeping. These were not tears of sorrow, however, but tears of joy, tears of relief, tears of revelation as he was finally, once and for all, experiencing the overwhelming and abundant love of God. The youngest in a large Ecuadorian family in the city of Newark, New Jersey, Michael was a second-generation immigrant child of '80s and '90s America, a life filled with hip-hop, MTV, video gaming, and baseball. Sadly, what his life lacked was the attention and affirmation of his father.

Broken by the attrition of chasing the American dream, Victor Cabezas had become a ghost in the home. When Victor passed suddenly in 1998, Michael turned to other sources of affirmation to fill the void left behind. His life became an endless pursuit of glamor and hedonistic dreams. Women, wealth, reputation, drugs, alcohol, sharp clothes, and fast cars. None of them satisfied. Instead, they left him weary, disappointed, and emptier than ever before. Then came a turning point. When Michael’s life was miraculously spared in a near-fatal vehicle accident, he finally began questioning where his life was headed.

Slowly, steadily, another father, his heavenly Father, made Himself known, the only one who could fill that void to overflowing with love and purpose and value. In His Image is the poignant story of one man’ s discovery that beyond all his desperate attempts to create a lasting image for himself lay the true image of the God who had created him.

The Imago Dei.

In a world of falsehood and illusion, this was the fascinating truth Michael needed to learn and then live out.

Rob Macquay’s narration of this book draw me closer to the characters. The delivery and pacing was just right for the listener to understand the story. As someone who is not a fan of reading a book apart from my academic textbooks, I was able to finish it through this audiobook while driving on my way to work, in a span of 2 days 😅
I'm not going to review an audiobook if I I haven't enjoyed overall.

This story is inspiring as it really speak to people who have gone through loss, felt rejected, struggled with who they are, or discovered that achieving success doesn't always bring real happiness.

The title of the book deserves recognition for its brilliance. In His Image" seems very straightforward at first, but when you add "Finding Truth in a World of False Identities" adds real depth. It raises a key question that cuts to the heart of human existence:
Who am I when I stop letting the world define who I should be?

Michael’s memoir stands as a powerful testament to how the things we chase for validation—accomplishment, material wealth, status, possessions, and the personas we construct—ultimately cannot satisfy our deepest longings. What makes Michael’s narrative so touching is the transformation from pain and void to discovering a deeper source of meaning and identity rooted in faith.

The concept of Imago Dei is powerful here: we have worth simply because we were made in God's image, not because we earned it or built it ourselves. Your story demonstrates to readers that even through pain, failure, and loss, healing and transformation remain possible.

The authors memoir shows remarkable honesty and vulnerability . It doesn't just explain an idea about faith—it shows his actual journey of searching, struggling, and finding what really counts. It pushes readers to look past the false versions of themselves that the culture promotes and discover who they truly are.

Thank you for being so open about your story. I highly recommend your book to other readers, as it will bring hope to those quietly dealing with emptiness, loss, or questions about who they are and what their life means. ☺️

Great job. The narrator’s voice is warm and engaging. The book is well-written and inspiring too :)

This memoir touched me deeply. The author’s candid recounting of his life’s challenges and his ultimate realization of divine love is powerful. The raw emotions conveyed through Rob McQuay’s narration make it even more compelling. It’s a heartfelt story that will stay with you long after listening.

Vulnerable and Real!
