Major Westley Remington has dedicated his life to serving his country. The Civil War has divided his family, torn his thoughts of glory, and left him with a wound that may never heal. Westley returns home on medical furlough to settle his father's estate at Belmont Plantation, only to find his home is being run by a fiery and independent woman - one many believe to be his wife. Love the story!
I struggled a little at first with the narrator’s accents changing so much for Ella until I realized that she was trying to hide her real accent to fit in with the people. Other than that, I really enjoyed this book!

This is one of my favorite books by the author. But to listen to it brought the story to life. The narrator did a perfect job with many voices and accents. I look forward to more from her!!

Captivating historical romance
In His Eyes, by Stephenia McGee, is a captivating Civil War Romance. I enjoyed Ella and Westley's story, watching as they go from complete strangers to finding love. Ella is a young, desperate Southern gal who has rescued a baby from his dying mother. With nowhere to go, she finds herself at Belmont Plantation and, with soldiers there seemingly harassing the help, Ella steps in and poses as the mistress. When the Yankee Major returns home, the drama begins. The author weaves an engaging story with dynamic characters, descriptive scenes, and dialogue that flows realistically and seamlessly without sounding forced. Readers who enjoy historical romance stories will not want to miss this. I listened to a complimentary copy of the audiobook and Bryn Austin does a great job narrating Ella and Westley's story. I was not required to write a review, and the opinions are my own.

Loved it!
I typically don’t read romance novels because, in my opinion, they’re light on substance and heavy on sexual themes. Not this author! “In His Eyes” was well written and well researched in view of the time period the story is set in. The historical aspect made it richer. Add insightful dialog with a Christian perspective and you have yourself a great read! Kudos to Stephenia McGee for making me like a romance novel!

Loved the story AND the audio!
Narration Review: Oh my goodness, the narrator for this one did an absolutely superb job! I don't think I could say enough wonderful things. Her voice matched the energy and mood of the story and she did a fantastic job at making each of the character voices sound different and unique. She was the perfect person to read this one and I hope to listen to more from her in the future. Story Review: I adored this story. Ella Whitaker was an incredible heroine and was an easy character to root for. Her fierce love for baby Lee was a force to be reckoned with, and was a true driving force for the novel. Westley was the perfect counterpart. I liked the personal growth he experienced to make him the right person for Ella. They certainly dealt with their fair share of miscommunication, but the conflict was an interesting blend of humor and facepalm. There was so much that I loved in this story and it held my attention from start to finish. I highly, highly recommend this one! I received an audible code from the author. Thoughts and opinions expressed are mine alone.

Great Historical Fiction post Civil War
Well worth listening to. Good story line - well developed. Lots of action. I liked how historical details were woven into the fictional story. Plus how Godly principals were simply incorporated.
