Willing to trade her freedom for peace, Shalia becomes Queen of the Bone Lands, a country where magic is outlawed and the Elementae - those that can control earth, air, fire, and water - are traitors subject to torture...or worse. Before she is even crowned, Shalia discovers that she can bend the earth to her will. Amazing! Of course!
Once again A. C. Gaughen produces a smashing hit! This is a very different book than the first in the series but no less special. This book is raw and real with many new characters to fall in love with. It's an adventure story full of action and magic. Yet, it's rooted in love and family which makes it very relatable and meaningful to readers. The narrator also did a fantastic job of telling this story!

Hope is a Cruel Thing
I was in two minds whether follow on from Reign of Earth, but I am glad I did as I found this book more engaging, albeit a little disconnected from Book 1. I can’t say I really fell in love with Asp, but then I can’t say I really fell in love with Shalia. Kai, on the other hand; I loved for his compassion and strength. Character development was good, although I had trouble keeping up with who had which element. The ending was a heartbreaker, even more so since I have just seen there may be no third book on Audible!! If I had known this earlier, I doubt I would have purchased either book as it had too much of an open end. I preferred the narrator in this book, which is probably why I found it more engaging than Book 1.
