Publisher's Summary

An age has passed, a blight curses the land, and one hero stands above the rest to restore the balance.

Verdan Blacke is an Imperial Wizard, a researcher by preference but soldier by necessity. Surviving an intense battle, Verdan is cursed by a hex witch in her final moments. Without any good options, Verdan escapes the ever-increasing pain the curse inflicts by performing a self-made stasis ritual.

When the spell fades, and he has awoken, Verdan finds a world completely different from the one he left behind. Dark things work in daylight with impunity, once common knowledge is a mystery, and even the nature of magic that humans use has changed.

One wizard, a million problems, and the wrath of profound magic.

A solid 4/5

Honestly i enjoyed this book. The premise is pretty standard and yet was still enjoyable mainly due to the MC being written like a real person who wants to do their best to help people. I'm also interested in seeing where the story goes and if the MC will be able to find anything relating to why the world's changed because as of now some thing just don't make much sense (witches for example). This story is that its your pretty average build up story, starting from practically nothing and getting more things and stuff but like most stories it suffers from a overabundance of things that seem to happen *just* as the MC is getting involved. What this leads to is very *very* little downtime for the MC to relax and build up things and is instead rushing from thing to thing. It does overall keep the book fast paced but i think a story like this needs a week or two in story where things are not happening and i look forward to when we can get some exposition and some time for things to calm down.

The audio needs work

The story has an interesting premise and was fairly promising, but I couldn't finish it due to the poor audio.

The audio balancing is very poor, it's difficult to hear and understand Melissa whenever she speaks.

Matt Hicks performance isn't very impressive. He voices the MC well, but most other characters he presents with a very deep and dopey sounding voice. Not only are they hard to understand, but I can't take these characters seriously when they sound like Scooby-doo.
