Publisher's Summary

The stylish, exuberant and remarkably sweet confession of one of the most famous groupies of the 1960s and '70s is back in this new edition that includes an afterword on the author's last 15 years of adventures.

As soon as she graduated from high school, Pamela Des Barres headed for the Sunset Strip, where she knocked on rock stars' backstage doors and immersed herself in the drugs, danger, and ecstasy of the freewheeling 1960s.

Over the next 10 years she had affairs with Mick Jagger, Jimmy Page, Keith Moon, Waylon Jennings, Chris Hillman, Noel Redding and Jim Morrison, among others. She traveled with Led Zeppelin; lived in sin with Don Johnson; turned down a date with Elvis Presley; and was close friends with Robert Plant, Gram Parsons, Ray Davies and Frank Zappa. As a member of the GTO's, a girl group masterminded by Frank Zappa, she was in the thick of the most revolutionary renaissance in the history of modern popular music.

Warm, witty and sexy, this kiss-and-tell-all stands out as the perfect chronicle of one of rock 'n' roll's most thrilling eras.

NO WAY !! JUST HORRIBLE !!

it could have been a great story but it was ruined by horrible narration & her singing every few minutes . YUCK !!
The narration was WAY over the top, she just poured it on so thick .
i struggled through the first 2 chapters then had to call it quits.

Just No!

I’ll give it a whirl I thought. Being of that era and liking most of the bands, I was interested. But...she started singing every song she mentioned! Did someone tell her she could sing? I wish someone had told her the truth!

Really enjoyable

I thoroughly enjoyed this book, if you like stories about the rock culture of the 60s and 70s then this is definitely up your street, be prepared for Pamela to break into song throughout the book, some other reviewers seemed to not like this, I thought it gave a bit of something to the reading, there’s nothing worse than someone reading something so flat, although I will say when she does impressions of the Beatles (being from Liverpool myself) her Liverpudlian accent needs some work. But apart from that one flaw it was a really great listen, some bits I was laughing out loud. Would highly recommend.

Terrible

What could have been a brilliant listen was utterly ruined by narration so awful that I couldn't finish the whole story. This is basically the story of a woman who slept with anyone who happened to be in a band. Utterly unlikable person with delusions of grandeur
