Publisher's Summary

I'm the Man is the fast-paced, humorous, and revealing memoir from the man who cofounded Anthrax, the band that proved to the masses that brutality and fun didn't have to be mutually exclusive. Through various lineup shifts, label snafus, rock 'n' roll mayhem, and unforeseen circumstances galore, Scott Ian has approached life and music with a smile, viewing the band with deadly seriousness while recognizing the ridiculousness of the entertainment industry. Always performing with abundant energy that revealed his passion for his craft, Ian has never let the gravity of being a rock star go to his shaven, goateed head.

I'm the Man is a blistering hard rock memoir, one that is astonishing in its candor and deftly told by the man who's kept the institution of Anthrax alive for more than 30 years.

Great listen - very honest and very entertaining

The narration was excellent, very expressive and kept me engaged the whole time. Favourite parts were Scott's home life and early band struggles.

one of the if not the greatest book about the musician and the band I have loved from day one Scott not Ian I am that guy from anthrax shows the soul and passion lacking in music today and The Heartless greed of the record industry

I'm a massive bio and metal fan.

this was awesome!!! had a equal mix of his life story. Some bios focus too much on the music and not their life and vice versa. thus was a good balance. hmmm what next?

Scott Ian, absolute living legend

What a great listen, I loved every second of this book, fantastic forward by Mr Kirk Hammett, brilliantly read by the master of rhythm guitar, and all round good guy Scott Ian, I have been a massive Anthrax fan for years so maybe a bit biased, but I don't care , this tells the tale of a class act band and their struggles with useless record companies, crap promoters, crap band members , but a huge ambition to succeed, Scott Ian tells us the whole truth about fame, failure, relationships, and determination, it's not a Motley Crüe, groupies , drugs, orgies take, but an honest account of an amazing career of a honest hard working band, loved it, ANTHRAX forever

YES!!!

Scott Ian IS the man! I've been an Anthrax fan from day one. This book served to open my eyes to a lot of things that went on that we, the fans, had no idea of, and to dispel more than a few rumors. This book came along at exactly the right time. Huge, HUUUUUGE, respect to Scott for bearing his soul to us.

Awesome book!

Great book from a great dude. I've always been a huge Anthrax fan and really enjoyed Scott's story. I would recommend this to everyone, even if you aren't a metalhead. The struggles and triumphs Scott and the band faced were monumental.

This book ****ing rocks--nearly literally

Scott does an unbelievable job relating the tale of himself, and Anthrax. Hearing how they and many of my other favorite bands came together was enlightening and inspiring in the least. I will listen to 'The Man' again. You should too.

catch 22

its olmost 12 hours but it it seemed like 1. id hope it would have been longer, but it was an amazing read(listen). not only that, but it was scott ian himself doing the reading and it made it even more legit. the catch 22 phrase he mentions at the end is very true for a musician. family comes first but the passion for playing never leaves. its truly a book for anyone.

great until the end

I've always been anthrax fan. I was looking so forward to this book and it delivered 90% Has a great background of the band the early years the tough years and the rebound . great storyline. Scott does a great job Delivering the message I had no idea all the trials and Tribulations the band went through and it certainly gives great insight to the bands History . probably one of the better biographies until the end when Scott decided to get political and give us his Misguided ideas and beliefs on the Republican party. You will find yourself Wanting to reach through the speakers to choke him and say shut up and play your guitar. I don't give a shit about your Political views. especially since they are misguided and obviously influenced by others. Scott loses a bit of credibility due to his Republican rant and you start to question whether or not he is actually as smart as you thought he was thru the first 31 chapters or just a guy at the right place at the right time and should be thankful for befriending a young Metallica else their story may have been much different. still one of my favorite bands regardless of Scott's misguided political views.

He Is Indeed "The Man"

This was a really enjoyable listen from the one and only Scott Ian who narrates virtually the whole thing in his own inimitable brash New Yorker way. He perhaps "over shares" in a few place (I could've done without the giving birth part) but on the other hand, he doesn't shy away from some of the frankly bone headed things he's done over the years (drink driving for example) so it comes over as a genuine "warts and all" tale.

I could take issue with some of his analysis about why some of Anthrax's albums failed (fact is, some of them just didn't contain many good songs) but this book is about what he thinks and he gives it with both barrels. He doesn't pull back...ever!

I'm probably making it sound like there isn't much humour in the book but there is plenty of that as well.

All in all, I highly recommend this book to anyone with a passing interest in Anthrax or even the history of "thrash" metal from one of the pioneers of the genre.

Warning: this book does contain quite a lot of profanity!

The title tells it all

Ithis ticks all the boxes tales from the inception of thrash metal right up to release of worship music. I'd just love to hear Scott's take on the release of for all the Kings.

He's Seeing, He's Calling

Scott's enthusiastic delivery and unmistakeable voice brings an added dimension to the story. A great insight into Scott's passion, determination and commitment and one of the most fascinating and downright awesome periods in metal's history.

Brilliant and interesting listen from Scott Ian, who has honed his narrative style by touring his spoken words show, which was also amazing. If you love rock or metal, you'll love this one.
