Publisher's Summary

Richard Reed built Innocent Drinks from a smoothie stall on a street corner to one of the biggest brands in Britain. He credits his success to four brilliant pieces of advice, each given to him just when he needed them most.

Ever since, it has been Richard's habit, whenever he meets somebody he admires, to ask them for their best piece of advice. If they could tell him just one thing, what would it be?

Richard has collected pearls of wisdom from some of the most remarkable, inspiring and game-changing people in the world - in business, tech, philanthropy, politics, sport, art, spirituality, medicine, film, and design.

From Hollywood greats like Judi Dench and Richard Curtis, to entrepreneurial legends like Richard Branson and Simon Cowell; from sports stars and TV personalities like Andy Murray and James Cordon to political activists and born survivors like Mandela's Comrades and Katie Piper, Richard has picked some of the world's most interesting brains to give you a lesson in how to live, how to love, how to create and how to succeed.

loved it. it was really well read and inspiring.

A good book that puts things in perspective. lots of advice that appears to contradict at first but when listened to in context, is a gem

If you only do one thing...buy this book!

I am in love with Richard Reed. I want to listen to his book over, and over again. I want to buy lots of hard copies and give them out on the street. I want these messages to get out into the community, so as many of us as possible can be good at what we do, making a difference. This is a good book...well written...well researched...well structured...well published..well edited...well meaning - the profits of the sales go to good causes. What's not to love!

Not a varied field of people

I thought overall the "words of wisdom" were pretty good, but the author's gushing over his encounters put this book a little over the top for my listening. I am open to a generally liberal leaning book, but this author's solely left leaning encounters were too much. Furthermore, unless you are really in marathon mental improvement mode, the book tends to drag after about the first hour.

Make for a great coffee table book.

I would prefer to have a paperback, something I can pick up and read when in need of inspiration.

It’s just OK

Given the big, successful names in this book, I thought it would bring a lot of deep and interesting stories/advice, but it read a bit more like a high school essay (with a strong unfinished feeling).

Probably a great inspiring read for under 25s

Was looking forward to listening to this book as I really love what the other has done with their life and business.

Whilst I don't question the author's intention and motivation, I found the content and tone a little naive. I found myself cringing at some the statements.

Finished listening to the book though and got a few useful insights.

Beautifully Compelling

I bought this book with a fear that it would be little more than a sickly collection of life quotes from famous people. I couldn't have been more wrong. Richard Reed meets some incredible people from all sides of the spectrum, and gives a greater insight into their personalities than the media allow. Sure, there are many quotes (some sickly) of which many are repeated etc "be nice". But knowing that takes nothing away from the beauty of this book, charmingly written by the modest Richard Reed. I simply can't wait until the next volume.

Emotional, inspirational and down-right wonderful

In all honesty, I bought this book by accident, and had unjustly assumed this to be 'another book of quotes'. I have never been so happy to be proved wrong!
The book's conversational writing style drew me in and brought me to tears on more than one occasion.
I highly recommend this book to anyone with a burning desire to make a positive change in the world.

An easy, punchy and inspiring book

There's a huge amount of wisdom in Richard's book and most of it comes from the people he interviews. No politically correct soft interpretations of what the interviewees say, just honest views from people like Joanna Lumley, Richard Branson and Bill Clinton. Read or listen to the book, you will be a better person for doing so!

Nice idea but execution was poor

The long wondering intros into each quote, many of which were self serving and uninteresting. Also author seems to be trying to hard using many unnecessary “flowery language” in a failed attempt to give us a impression of the scenario in question. Absolutely torturing to listen too!
