About this listen

This audiobook includes an interview with Ozzy Osbourne from 2009.

People ask me how come I'm still alive, and I don't know what to say. When I was growing up, if you'd have put me up against a wall with the other kids from my street and asked me which one of us was gonna make it to the age of 60, with five kids and four grandkids and houses in Buckinghamshire and California, I wouldn't have put money on me, no f--king way. But here I am: ready to tell my story, in my own words, for the first time.

A lot of it ain't gonna be pretty. I've done some bad things in my time. But I ain't the devil. I'm just John Osbourne: a working-class kid from Aston, who quit his job in the factory and went looking for a good time.

Firstly, this narrator should get a friggin Oscar or a Grammy or something for this performance. At some points you forget it's not Ozzy. His accents are spot on and his comical timing in delivering Ozzy's hilarious stories is impeccable. I had tears in my eyes at some points (the bit about his horse and also his colonoscopy are hilarious but I won't give it away). This narrator does Sharron's voice as well.

secondly, the story is amazing. Told with a certain level of humility. For some reason it doesn't seem like Ozzy is bragging. It's like he has 100% street cred. He came from nothing and made something of himself against some pretty full on odds. I always liked Ozzy and thought he was funny, but now i love him..ees a lovable litul scamp ee is.

Highly recommend.

Best audiobook so far....read amazingly!

Ozzy is a legend and this book certainly proves just why. It's fascinating, hilarious, terrifying and eye-opening.
Nothing held back or seemingly exaggerated.
The early Black Sabbath years are really in-depth, the later years are too but things obviously reach a nadir in the late 80s and 90s until the MTV stardom hits.
The narrator does a great job too.
Highly recommended!

Amazing rock memoir!

Even if you're not a fan of Ozzy or Black Sabbath (shame!), this is still a fantastic listen! Hilarious, chaotic, compelling, sometimes even heartwarming stories of Rock & Roll insanity. Rupert Farley's narration is spot on, apart from his mispronunciation of Iommi, haha!

Sabbath Bloody Brilliant!
