About this listen

FROM THE AUTHOR OF THE SUNDAY TIMES NUMBER ONE BESTSELLER THE CALLER

Seven days after being abducted, the body of a twenty-year-old woman is found on a green patch of grass by the Los Angeles International Airport. She has been left with her limbs stretched out and spread apart, placing her in a five-point human star.

The autopsy reveals that she had been murdered in a most terrible way. But the surprises don't end there.

Detective Robert Hunter, who leads LAPD's Special Section, Ultra Violent Unit, is assigned the case. But almost immediately a second body turns up. Hunter knows he has to be quick.

Surrounded by new challenges as every day passes, Detective Hunter finds himself chasing a monster. A predator whose past hides a terrible secret, whose desire to hurt people and thirst for murder can never be quenched - for he is DEATH.

Very well written and easy to listen to, lots of twists with brutality I haven’t heard before. Liked it, but wouldn’t say it was a top 10 but readers won’t be disappointed if you like these types of crime books!

Liked a lot but didn’t love

Normally I'd say that Chris Carter is my favourite author, but this book didn't feel the same. I'm not sure if it's the story feeling too similar to precious ones or the narration. but this book didn't feel up to the same standard I'm used to from Chris

While not as thrilling as some of his previous novels, this is another great story

Another good story from Chris Carter

Too disturbing, even for Chris Carter. I had to turn through volume down in certain sections. Hope the next one I read is an improvement.

Did not enjoy this one

Another great read from Chris Carter. He quickly became one of my favourite authors from book one. Although George Newburn in my opinion does a terrible job of narrating the book. The first time I heard Carlos Garcia’s voice, I didn’t know it was him! Not a hint of that Portuguese accent that Thomas Judd gives us.

Sometimes I wonder who picks these narrators…
