About this listen
In Boyfriend Material, Luc and Oliver met, pretended to fall in love, fell in love for real, dealt with heartbreak and disappointment and family and friends...and somehow figured out a way to make it work. Now it seems like everyone around them is getting married, and Luc's feeling the social pressure to propose. But it'll take more than four weddings, a funeral, and a bowl full of special curry to get these two from "I don't know what I'm doing" to "I do".
Good thing Oliver is such perfect Husband Material.

It wasn't as bad as some reviews read, but not as brilliant as others said.
As someone who considers themselves aroace the concept of love fascinates me and I spend a ridiculous amount of time pulling the idea of it apart and what it all means
I turn to media as a sort of text book about it.
I enjoyed the story to a point.
Some people said it was just a collection of events, which I actually really enjoyed and I felt that this was a fairly ok follow up to the first book, especially considering most of these type of books are stand alone.
In a sense I felt betrayed by this book.
I think it tried to express how love looks different for everyone but I feel the ending of the book did complete the story in a satisfactory way.
The way they explain the relationship was basically presented as how married life tends to look.
(The ability to be happy in the presents of who you're with, while being committed)
I understand some people don't see the need for marriage which I can agree with.
I feel like that as a statement was portrayed by Judy and o'deal 's relationship more than anything.
It didn't need to be romantic but there was love there and marriage wasn't need to show that. They still lived as life partners and were happy and that's what mattered.
I guess where I get the betrayed feeling from is I felt this book promised me a happy story about the exploration of marriage which was partly what I got. Yet at the same time I was denied it, I feel what could have happened is that they explored more how to make their marriage theirs and not just denying the concept because if anything it felt like a blury way to end things.
Good sequel, felt betrayed by the story and ending

The story however, has its brilliant, clever moment’s which result in giggles and tears, but all-in-all is not cohesively put together resulting in cringy moments. There’s a tone of political correctness in the story that seems out of place and not in keeping with the first book. Perhaps more evident of the changes in political culture than the authors work - who knows.
The ending is just plain miserable. Perhaps purposefully for a 3rd book? Disappointing and unfinished. This could have truely been a great sequel; it has all the makings - its a shame it really didn’t come together well.
A rollercoaster of a story.
