Publisher's Summary

Summer in New Orleans means hot days, long nights, spooky stories, and surprising new beginnings.

Felicity Bell has struggled to move on after her marriage broke down. Her ex has found love again, her children have their own lives, and it's beginning to feel like her only comfort comes from her dog and her job as a taxidermist. So when Flick gets an offer to work in New Orleans for a few months, she's drawn to the chance to make a fresh start.

Zoe is ready to start a family with her husband, but when he betrays her, she's left shattered and desperate for a change of scenery. Joining her mother on the other side of the world to drown her sorrows seems the perfect solution.

Although both mother and daughter are wary of risking their hearts to love again, Theo, a jazz bar owner, and Jack, a local ghost hunter, offer fun, friendship and distraction. But all is not as it seems in New Orleans....

A chance meeting with Aurelia, a reclusive artist who surprises them with lessons from her life, prompts Flick and Zoe to reassess what they want too. Can all three women learn from the past in order to embrace their future?

An uplifting novel about three women joyously learning to move on after heartbreak by the best-selling author of The Patterson Girls and Flying the Nest.

Enjoyable story and setting

I actually have mixed feelings about this audible. I very much enjoyed the journey to New Orleans but did not enjoy listening to Zoe’s part of the story at all.

I wonder if I would have read it differently!

The narrator was good in parts but I felt like her over dramatic representation of Zoe’s character spoilt the book and made her very unlike able.

If you don’t know anything about New Orleans you will enjoy having your eyes opened to this wonderful city though!

Loved this book

This book brought the wonderful eclectic New Orleans to life. I felt like I was there again walking the streets and immersing myself in all the wonder of ‘the big easy’. What a great story to follow on Flick’s journey from ‘The Art of Keeping Secrets’.

Loved it

Love Rachel Johns and love her books. Really enjoyed learning about New Orleans through this lovely story. Casey is a wonderful narrator really enjoyed her narration in Flying the Nest, so was very happy to listen again and she didn’t disappoint even with the American accents. Can’t wait for the next book!

Ugh

Whinging, whining, uber-PC characters. Just what you (don't) want in a chick-lit novel. they managed to suck all.enjoyment out of what could gave been a fun read.
Have read and listened to plenty of Rachael Johns books. This is the worst. I realised a few chapters in that I recognised the main character from another book I found barely tolerable, but thought I'd give it a chance.
Cliche after cliche. Despite my best efforts, I had to chuck it in. I can truly understand why Zoe's husband did a runner. He is no doubt glad to be free of her.
