Jamie Prescott only agreed to attend a speed-dating event because her best friend, Laurie, wouldn't take no for an answer. She expects awkward conversations, questionable pickup lines, and maybe a free drink or two.
She doesn't expect one of her dates to have his throat slit right in front of her.
When a sudden blackout leaves multiple bodies on the floor, the exits locked, and a murderer hiding among the remaining singles, Jamie realizes she's trapped inside a real-life slasher movie.
Luckily, she's spent her entire life obsessing over horror films and romantic comedies. Armed with makeshift weapons, survival instincts, and an encyclopedic knowledge of everything a Final Girl should—and definitely shouldn't—do, Jamie is determined to make it out alive.
But as the body count rises, Jamie begins to suspect the killer isn't just murdering people at random. Someone is orchestrating the perfect horror story—and they're looking for a real-life Final Girl to star in it.
The problem? Jamie can't stop getting distracted by the ridiculously attractive men trapped alongside her.
Especially when one of them might be the killer.
A hilarious, swoony, and genuinely terrifying horror rom-com packed with murder, mayhem, forced proximity, serial-killer suspense, and razor-sharp genre references, How to Kill a Guy in Ten Dates is the ultimate killer love story.

Not for me

Unfortunately, the male narrator's voice didn't match the character's age at all, he sounded more like her father or a retired detective, making the romance feel "off" and I found myself skipping the steamy scenes because it felt too jarring and unrealistic.
Plus, the audio levels were inconsistent. I had to constantly turn the volume up every time the MMC spoke and then scramble to turn it down when the FMC returned. It really disrupted the flow of an otherwise great book.
Narrator choice and audio quality ruined the vibe

In saying all that I did finish the book so that in self says it wasn’t bad. I don’t know if it’s because it’s a slasher but I couldn’t connect to the characters, I didn’t think there was much depth to them for me to connect.
However the story it self had me intrigued and I wanted to know who did it and that’s what kept me going. I liked this part of the story and I got use to all the rules. Where it had me going hang on you can’t do that, that’s against the rules lol .
Things I didn’t like was the gore but I got over that and it wasn’t too bad. The main dislike was that in the middle of the story there is some smut (cmon as if you would do that in the middle of what’s going on, I thought it was cringe and really wasn’t needed). If the smut scene wasn’t there I’d give it 3 stars and 7/10 only because I don’t think it was necessary.
Overall I did find it fun and I liked it enough to maybe even try and different slasher story. If you’re into slashers I’d highly recommend it.
If you like thrillers and you like romance and a bit of smut then I’d also recommend it.
2.8 stars 6.5 /10

I am so glad I listened to the audiobook instead of reading it on paper/tablet. The cast is great, and the vibes are immaculate. Jamie Prescott is a cinephile, a lover of rom coms and Horror. I loved all her references TITSOAK ahhh I definitely need to reread again.
Outstanding!!!
