About this listen

David Hassan Habbi Love is the epitome of perseverance. He was born on October 25, 1972, in Brooklyn, NY, at Kings County Hospital. As a little boy, David had many struggles. He has survived abandonment, physical abuse, emotional abuse, neglect, and malnourishment. Because he was parentless, he was placed in the care of a relative. He went to school daily, but he didn’t see the importance of having an education, and he did not learn how to read or write. He began to take care of himself by stealing, and to fill the void of not having his mother or father in his life, he became a gang member. David eventually started to repair his relationship with his estranged mother but it was too late; had become a slave to the streets. At age 15, he began his vicious cycle of going back and forth to prison. During these cycles, he learned a lot about himself. David has always believed that God didn't "arrest" him but "rescued" him. David has served a total of 19 years in the penitentiary system.
