About this listen

A revolutionary approach to the techniques of working with horses, by a renowned instructor.

In Horses Never Lie, renowned horse trainer Mark Rashid challenges the conventional wisdom of "alpha leadership" and teaches the listener to become a "passive leader" - a counterpart to the kind of horse other members of a herd choose to associate with and to follow. Applying Rashid’s principles and techniques helps cultivate horse personalities that are responsive and dependable regardless of the rider. Reliving Rashid’s experiences with him, you will come to feel the same sort of compassion and appreciation for your horses that you do for the people in your life. This new edition features added introductory notes for each chapter that contribute to a more complete understanding of Rashid’s methods and philosophy.

Editorial reviews

Narrator Dan Lawson's tenor voice has a naturally affable quality, and his performance of Horses Never Lie expressively conveys the friendly wisdom behind renowned horse trainer Mark Rashid's methods and philosophy. Rashid's experiences with horses are narrated in a companionable manner, and his techniques in cultivating passive leadership with horses are easy to understand. Lawson does not overemphasize the audiobook's lessons, choosing to apply Rashid's maxim that the best way to guide is to let horses - or, in this case, listeners - figure things out on their own.

This is such an eye opener book for me. I could have done so much more to my mare to have a good relationship with me.

the narrator in this wasn't as good as other books. This person is obviously not a horse person and reads like a robot.

great listen but disappointing narrating.

A beautiful and restorative picture of how to work with any creature... The four legged and two legged kind. If you are in the business of people and have a love for horses this will be especially powerful for you and break your heart for even the most difficult ones you work with!

Not just for the four legged creatures in your life

I am humbled at Mark's wisdom & gentle approach to not only the horses he has dealt with over the years but their humans as well,!
I'd like to believe that 'The Old Man's ' is always out there quietly watching him with a knowing smile?

Thinking outside the box!

Really valuable information for any horse person wanting affirmation that horses really do want to work with us, if only we can get out of our own way to let the trust build between us.
Narrator clearly isn’t familiar with horses/horse lingo but is otherwise easy to listen to.

Great book

Another exceptional book from Mark Rashid, chocked full of great stories and lessons that can be incorporated into both working with horses and then flowing onto life.
*Not my favourite narrator of Mark Rashid's books though. That was the only thing I didn't like. I found Dan Lawson quite stilted in the way he narrated, and his reading not so fluid, lacking a little warmth at times.
Other than that, another fantastic book!

Great book, not so great narration...
