Publisher's Summary

“I want to believe, I want to have hope, but...” Pastor and best-selling author Craig Groeschel hears these words often and has asked them himself. We want to know God, feel his presence, and trust that he hears our prayers, but in the midst of great pain, we may wonder if he really cares about us. Even when we have both hope and hurt, sometimes it’s the hurt that shouts the loudest. Can God be good when life is not?

In Hope in the Dark, Groeschel explores the story of the father who brought his demon-possessed son to Jesus, saying, “I believe! Help my unbelief!” In the man’s sincere plea, Jesus heard the tension in the man’s battle-scarred heart. He healed not only the boy but the father, too, driving out the hopelessness that had overtaken him. He can do the same for us today.

As Groeschel shares his pain surrounding the current health challenges of his daughter, he acknowledges the questions we may ask in our own deepest pain: “Where was God when I was being abused?” “Why was my child born with a disability?” “Why did the cancer come back?” “Why are all my friends married and I’m alone?” He invites us to wrestle with such questions as we ask God to honor our faith and heal our unbelief.

In the middle of your profound pain, you long for authentic words of understanding and hope. You long to know that even in overwhelming reality, you can still believe that God is good. Rediscover a faith in the character, power, and presence of God. Even in the questions. Even now.

A challenge in difficult times but worth it.

I found this book very helpful. It doesn't solve your problems, but it does help you face the inevitable challenges that will come in life (if you come from a Christian standpoint)
Craig is real, honest and forthright, using habakuk to illustrate faith based resilience.

Hope filled!

So many times we lose hope and wonder where God is in all that is going on. Craig compassionately communicates that we can hope in God regardless of what happens. But he doesn't say that flippantly but as one who has and is living through difficult times. The reader also expresses that very well in the telling of this hopeful book.

A much needed read.

I am at a point in my life where i'm in a valley. This has helped me strengthen my life with the lord. It's not a easy listen, but it will help you if you're struggling.

Great book, I loved it!

Fist I heard the book Altar Ego which was narrated by the author and I liked it so much. This was awesome as well and the narrator is also great, you can listen to him for hours. But this book alone is gold. Definitely can recommend both books. I needed this so much. Than you!

Craig Groeschel Gets It Right

We cannot hope to explain why bad things happen to good people. We can however trust and believe in Gods love and sacrifice for us. Craig gets it right. Ordered in hardback too do I can refer to often. Be blessed and be a blessing!

I really liked it.

This book provides you with practical means to help strengthen your fate in the face of harsh times. HE WILL SEE YOU THROUGH. You just have to learn to accept life on His terms not your own. Another book I would recommend to Co. Plement this one is The Universe Has Your Back by Gabrielle Bernstein.
