Publisher's Summary

The border town of Forest Mist resides in the Great Piney Woods and is famous throughout the Alliance for its lumber and rare hardwoods. In need of building materials for their new ranch home, Bishop and Terri travel east. It is the couple’s anniversary, and both feel the need for a change of scenery.

As they cross Texas, they discover a dark confrontation simmering just under the surface of Alliance society. Instead of a relaxing journey through the heart of the Lone Star Nation, Bishop and Terri are thrust into a local conflict that threatens to divide Forest Mist and the Alliance as a whole. It is a test not only of their survival skills, but their values, morals, and love of freedom.

great story but really bad recording quality

Joe still has some great characters here and the story lines are still excellent but the narration is absolutely BS. in the beginning of this series the narration was good but it has progressively gotten worse. This one actually pissed me off. Also Bishop is still a bad a$$ stop acting like he's over the hill. If Tom Brady can still win super bowls Bishop can still take out an army of super soldiers.

I Loved The Other Books...Not This One!

I couldn't stand 10 minutes of listening to this narrator! Besides him reading the book like he was reading sport scores or the stock prices, it sounded like he was reading in a bathroom! Should have gotten Dave Wright to narrate! I want my money back! Get a different narrator and I might try it again!

Not a good change.

I’ve bought every book in this series, and the story is always fun, but this narrator was brutal. Not easy to listen to.

Awful Narrator

He was a poor reader and story teller. His attempt at inflection and adding voice to the characters was poor.

Why would an author allow this?

This narrator is god awful, sounds like he’s in a chamber most of the time...

I believe this book just like the 13 before would have been a great experience except for the narrator...
Sorry Joe, you’re one of my favorite authors, but I’ll never buy another book this guy narrates

worst recording yet

it's really hard to get past the absolutely terrible recording. one of the worst recorded audio books I've ever heard. the story was a typical holding their own story. I could have done without the cliffhanger. Still a lifelong Joe nobody fan

Story beginning to run on

I have been a fan if the series and the author but this one is weak.
Audio performance was bad which made a weak story even worse.

ding

I love the bishop series of books. though one of the things I've come todislike about it in the audiobook series is the inconsistency of the narrator's. some are better than others. but this last one was quite possibly the worst. I think my two-year-old cell phone has a better microphone. also the iambic pentameter cadence that he seemed to keep throughout most of the book was a little annoying. And why a loud thing to signify chapters especially when that thing is louder than your actual voice most users of audible are headphone users or in their cars driving down the road and getting an audible vibe check every 2 to 5 minutes It felt like at times The narrator either hated the book he was working on or hated the audience and in that case they should not be doing these books. whatever review process or editor allowed this to go on through should also be admonished. I will honestly skip the rest of this audiobook series if it's by the same narrator. in words that some of the consumers of this genre will relate to "Suck Less"
