Publisher's Summary

The most anticipated spy thriller of 2020, from the Sunday Times best-selling author of Corpus.

Autumn 1941. The war is going badly for Britain and its allies. If Hitler is to be stopped, a new weapon is desperately needed.

In Cambridge, professor Tom Wilde is approached by an American intelligence officer who claims to know of such a weapon - one so secret even Hitler himself isn't aware of its existence. If Wilde can smuggle the package out of Germany, the Third Reich will surely fall.

But it is only when he is deep behind enemy lines that Wilde discovers why the Nazis are so desperate to prevent the 'package' falling into Allied hands. And as ruthless killers hunt him through Europe, a treacherous question hangs over the mission: if Hitler's secret will win them the war, why is Wilde convinced it must remain hidden?

Dramatic, intelligent and utterly compelling, Hitler's Secret is the breakout spy thriller of the year from the award-winning author of Corpus and Nucleus - perfect for listeners of Robert Harris, C J Sansom and Joseph Kanon.

Loved Hitler’s Secret

This 4th installment is the best of the lot. I look forward to more. And, of course, more John Shakespeare stories ❤️

Series gets better

I’m actually enjoying these more as I go along. There’s always an issue for me with thrillers like this where the protagonist is supposed to be someone outside the military or espionage world. The hero is a lecturer who also can fight, shoot, row a boat in high seas and outwit the intelligence services of two countries. My lecturers at university could barely keep us in lectures and out of the pub! Once you get over that and just enjoy the books they’re great. Intelligent, twisty and an interestingly different take on a massively over-exploited period.

Five stars are not enough.

Really enjoyed this book from start to finish. A chilling portrayal of a previous time under a despicable fascist regime that caused the deaths of millions of people. The story quickly moves along between people and places, where a mistake or chance encounter may finish the main characters. Travel back Into dark history when hopes and bravery prevailed over evil.

Another Good Adventure

A good tale, believable and with nice flow. Narrator again does good job and am happy to recommend. But best to read/listen to series in order.

I love Tom Wilde...

...the absolute best compliment I can pay both Rory Clements and the character himself is how close to the brilliant Bernie Guenther he is and with Philip sadly gone, lets hope Rory is just as prolific. A really good story with a plausible character that stands up for what he believes in - something we'd all hope to be when the chips are down...

A wondeful ear bender!

I thoroughly enjoyed this book as I have the first 3, although not necessarily in the right order! I found myself looking at maps of Germany , Sweden ,Scotland and of course Cambridge to see where the story unfolded . And biographies of the protagonists in the 3rd Reich. Certainly brought this intriguing period of history to life for me . Vicerally compelling with my pulse racing and in some parts stomach churning! Most excellent! Looking forward to the next one ! Thank you.

Good story

The characters are very good and believable. However, some of the dialogue is childish. We all know that there has to be goodies and baddies but some of the characterisation and dialogue of the baddies is over the top. It does not add to the story as a matter of fact it annoys
