Publisher's Summary

A new space pirate adventure from NYT and USAT best-selling author Michelle M. Pillow.

Dragon-shifter Lochlann left home to avoid a war in which he didn’t believe. Now, as captain of The Conqueror, in charge of a misfit crew, all he wants is to return without the label of coward. He’s been offered one chance at redemption: find Margot, a noblewoman’s missing sister. The only problem is, the woman disappeared years ago, and his closest lead is a stunningly beautiful look-alike droid crafted in her image. Alexis is programed to be everything he could ever desire, but getting her to reveal her secrets proves to be a true challenge for this alpha male.

Being a base model pleasure droid isn’t as glamorous as it sounds. Alexis can’t remember a time when she wasn’t the property of others. Multiple surgeries and endless tests have amounted to a life not worth living. When a pirate crew visits her facility, she sneaks onto their ship. Desperate not to be returned to her owners, she strikes a deal with the alluring captain: pretend to be Margot in exchange for freedom.

A Qurilixen World novel.

Series note: Dragon Lords fans - find out what happened to Margot!

Great story!

I watch a lot of sci-fi, but I don't normally read it. That being said, I loved listening to it! The characters were interesting and made you care about them. I have not read/listened to the other books in the series, but that didn't take away from my enjoyment or understanding of this book. I liked the narrator. He had different voices for the characters so it was easy to listen to.

Great for this book

I actually enjoyed this book more than I thought I would. I've watched a lot of Star Trek so this was something I thought might be in that direction, other than the Captian being a dragon shifter. Then there was the Alexis 9.7 and once she came on his ship, his whole world fell apart. And of course, he fell in love. She isn't what, or who he expects her to be and trouble comes knocking on his door for her and his crew. She's supposed to be a sex droid and turns out to be human, but how is that possible when she has all this information uploaded in her brain. My favorite part is the mention of the author, it was perfect. Will definitely have to give a listen yourself to see how it goes. I was very intrigued.

The narrator was new to me but I think he did a great job with this one. Each character had their own personality, some had an accent as well and never did he get them confused. I can't wait to hear more from him.

Ahhh!

Pillow knocked it out of the park with this one. This book took the series to the next level! Margot's and Lochlqnn's story drew me right in and I was obsessed. This one maybe my favorite so far. His Metal Maiden, like the other's in the series, gives you mystery, adventure, love, and a fight for good over evil. I love how Pillow has been able to make each of the books in the series link up but still maintain complete individual stories. Margot's back story is on point! Ferraiuolo did a wonderful job with bring the story to life. Give it a listen, you will not be disappointed!

More sci-fi than romance

Listened to audio narrated by Michael Ferraiuolo.

Captain Lochlann and his crew are on a mission to find a missing noblewoman's sister who was sold by her father to pay off a debt. If he can find her he can return to his planet and have his honor restored. Although he's been searching for years he hasn't had any luck.

Alexis is a base model pleasure droid, who's filled with memories of torturous experimentation. When Lochlann's crew visits her facility she sneaks on their ship, but the medical mafia is going to want their droid back.

Alexis looks like the long lost sister Lochlann's been hunting, she's human but she's filled with a lot of tech and seems to glitch a lot.

I'm not sure if it was the narration or the story itself but it came across as very choppy and hard to follow. Alexis is a human with a lot of android parts but she comes across as more android and I didn't feel any romantic connection between her and Lachlann.

The hero is a shifter but the tone of the book is almost entirely sci-fi, the shifter part of the story is almost non-existent. I had expected a more blended book with both aspects highlighted. I haven't read any of the Qurilixen books and maybe that would have given me a different perspective on this story but it was just an okay read for me.

Another fantastic listen

Book 3 in the series . Even though it’s book 3 it can be listened as a stand-alone. Michelle knows how to grab the listeners attention till the very end . Michelle writes strong characters. Both the hero’s and heroine characters are strong , know their mind and you will grow to love them. The heroine got rescued by the hero .
Heroine is Margot. Hero is Lochlann.
Margot is in a bad situation, her father put her up as a bet . Her father lost the bet and now she’s on a pleasure ship . Lochlann sees her and he knows he needs to take her back home , to the planet that he ran of from . As he saves her , he takes her back to the ship things get interesting between Margo and Lochlann . The prophesy that was revealed in book 1 comes true .

Michael performance in this one is fantastic. He did this one as strong as the other ones .

THis series is getting better and better

I love this series and this book is great! I loved the interactions between Alexis and the crew and mostly between Alexis and Lochlann! Her robotic actions are fabulous but she becomes more as we go along and this makes the whole great!
The diversity of the crew and their characters is brought out in this story with the danger as a a result of Alexis being on board but it also shows their solidarity as a crew!
A great book to listen to and the reader is good!

Really enjoyable

Having read several of the Quirlixen world books before, I was sure that this tale would not disappoint. The story was well written from the start to the end. The recording was well presented and easy to listen to. Severally a really enjoyable listen.
