Publisher's Summary

Ash Harrington's life is out of control. At 23 years old, he's suddenly the head of a multibillion dollar global corporation he is in no way equipped to run. His father is dying. His mother's run away. He's spent his entire adult life playing fast and loose with his life and his loves, but when he's dragged into a position of responsibility with the fate of the company on his shoulders, he goes spinning into freefall. And Brand Forsythe is the only man to catch him.

Icy, detached, nearly twice Ash's age, the massive monolith of a British valet is impossible to deal with and like no servant Ash has ever met. Domineering and controlling, Brand quickly puts Ash's life in order. And quickly takes Ash in hand.

Even if by day Ash has to project authority, leadership, and calm...by night he's discovering the breathless pleasure of giving up control. The shivering thrill of surrendering to Brand. The sweet taboo of being submissive to the man in even the smallest things. Ash can't quite understand why it feels so good to put himself in Brand Forsythe's capable, commanding hands. He only knows, as he faces the hardest decisions of his life...the only thing that can save him is the love of his cocky valet.

Contains mature themes.

Incongruous story about domination

Apart from the constantly whining voice of the ‘hero’, this story is completely incongruous. From the dying father who never prepares his son to take over the company to the uneducated valet who acts like a CEO this is really a tale about an older bully who completely dominates and controls his younger charge. No man would get away with doing this to a younger woman so why are stories about gay men written about pathetic individuals who get controlled........really hated this story

Unique

I simply loved this book due to the fact it has an original story point and a great plot. The plot holds up and keeps you moaning an wet throughout. The book does this through teasing and outright sexual advances. I simply love it and I hope you do too.

So much more than expected.

Joel Leslie - WOW. You killed this. There was no point when I didn't entirely believe that there were multiple people talking in this story! If it wasn't edgy enough, you added so much tantalizing emotion that it became impossible to listen while driving or doing anything other than listen. Well done. This is a performance that was much more than narration! Bravo

Composer Cole McCade - Although I heard good things about this story at the time it was published in spring of 2018, I also knew that this was a quick 'action/reaction' to the behavior of a self-described 'best-selling' author previously unknown to me.

I dare say that I've read enough that I don't imagine there are too many best-selling authors who are unknown to me, at least with name recognition.

There were a few medical details that weren't quite right but as the author proclaimed, this was intended to be satire. I won't provide specifics as not everyone would be pulled out of the story by unlikely events.

I've seen the word gobsmacked in stories and have never used or heard the word used in real life. I was gobsmacked. This story was emotion-packed and provocative. I wouldn't have expected this to have so much of an own-voices flavor but this only adds to the performance art presented by this extremely talented duo, wordsmith McCabe and actor Leslie.

I listened to this on audible and now I will buy the book. It's that good.

COCKY, COCKY, COCKY...

I loved this cocky book. I also loved the cocky characters and the cocky narrator. There wasn't anything that I did not like about the cocky book. Except that it ended.

Wonderful!

Love the story, love the narrator, author’s notes are at first hilarious (GO COLE!) and second, heartbreaking. Makes me want to read everything out there by him. Now I have a new author to look forward to. And Joel Leslie is as always a wonderful performer of the written word. Highly recommend!

Author’s note

Thank you for sharing truth in your letters at the end of this book. I was surprised to hear the information. And I must admit I laughed aloud when you shared the story about “cocky.” I’m looking forward to reading and listening to even more of your books, your your letters at the end serve to strengthen my resolve. Fun book too by the way. I enjoyed the humor found throughout.

THIS BOOK IS EVERYTHING!!

THIS BOOK! THIS BOOK IS EVERYTHING!!! Not only do I LOVE the reason on why it was made (hello #cockygate) but the story itself was perfect. Flawd perfect-for-each-other characters. And it was HOT. This book is in my hands down top 10 favorite books of all time. I love the fluffy idea of not so perfect love thy scares others but when you find the right person- that right match- it all becomes ok. That scary attraction becomes a perfect kind of love and these characters have it.

Beautiful. Wow

It was as Cole said. I could almost see it.
I honestly would prefer to avoid hospitals unless injured or in pain, not to... let's just say I've had my fill. And I'd rather remember that person before they were destroyed by whatever felled them.

Does that make me heartless? Maybe...
But I don't want my last memory, my last sight of a loved one, to be them in a strange bed with machines recording their last.

Anyway, I loved the book. I loved the performance and Joel did a wonderful job.

Can't wait for the Cellist.

Buyer beware -- not what is advertised

I'm honestly not quite sure what the author was going for with this book. From the blurb (and the title), I was expecting a sort of dark story about a younger, maybe arrogant man who falls under the thrall of his domineering valet and is, I don't know, humbled or something. Sort of an age difference, power imbalance type of thing. I admit it's not my usual fare but I guess I was in the mood for it and this book looked to be that. However, this book is nowhere near that.

With a title like "The Cocky Valet," I was sort of expecting the valet to be, well, cocky. And he was for the first couple chapters, I guess, but it seemed like it was building to more and it just never happened. The valet (his name escapes me and I literally just finished listening to it, never a good sign. It's Brand, I just looked it up) quickly falls for the younger man (Ash) and soon after, the book becomes a typical spoopy romance, only not particularly interesting. And that's, like, a fifth of the way through the book. I listened to a bit more and it just seemed to be going in a much more romantic direction than I had anticipated. And I love romance novels, but trust me, you can find much better ones than this. So, I consigned this one to the DNF pile. It's not "bad," really, but don't expect anything particularly edgy or dark, or indeed anything that stands out from the crowd at all.

Joel leslie saves the book

I bought this book because of Joel leslie. I can’t even get to chapter 4. It is so flipping cheesy. I can’t stop rolling my eyes. So cheesy. Joel leslie is the only reason I got to chapter 4. Couldn’t finish and asked for my credit back. Author is too busy looking for flowery words paragraph after paragraph. This is MHO.

Fucking Love

Jesus Christ I love this book so fucking much. I didn't think I could get this into this book but I did. I love the narrator which is guilty not my favorite, but he did an amazing job for this book. Joel has gotten better with more books.

I also love this author because the end note was funny as hell. But he's also super talented to create such an intricate and amazing story.

Loved this book.

Fabulous

Well I I know I say this a lot but the narrator really brought this story to life for me... Yes Joel Leslie is one of my favourite but if the story was not a good one in my mind I don't think anyone could make it sound good! I have a feeling the book will be just as good for me! Thank you
