About this listen

You only take the High Wire if you're desperate - or up to no good.

A notorious unmarked track through outback Australia, the 'Wire' crosses slabs of lawless land, body-dumping grounds and mobile phone blackspots.

Senior Sergeant Edna Norris knows all too well that her jurisdiction - covering 200,000 square kilometres of South Australia desert - is the place where people go to disappear. But nothing could have prepared her for today's rapidly unfolding crime spree: a runaway teenager, a burned-out car, a missing woman, a bank robbery and a bullet-riddled body.

Further down the High Wire, Harvey Buck and Clare Holland are strangers thrust together for the road trip from hell. Ambushed on the roadside by a vengeful crew, the pair are being forced to commit a series of increasingly murderous missions.

Edna Norris is hot on their trail. But catching up to them might mean becoming part of their living nightmare . . .

Very enjoyable Candice Fox story. Multiple story lines interweaved well. enjoyable Australian quirkiness. Ending not as great as could have been. Still recommend.

I liked everything, the persistence of Edna who doesn’t always follow the rules. We need more of Harvey and Edna.

Fox delivers another brilliantly paced crime thriller set in Australia, with a cast of memorable characters. Would love to read more stories featuring Harvey, Edna and Talon.

I listened to this book because I love the narrator Dorje Swallow.. I really enjoyed it. At times I laughed, giggled and held my breath.. its been awhile since an audio book has done this. It's left me hanging for the next book

Interesting characters

I got half way and couldn't stand the laughable "females are heroes and military figures are monsters"story line, and then throw in the indigenous inaccuracies.the Author has obviously spent zero time in the real outback.

woke agenda
