Andrea Mara’s book are always have excellent character analysis.

Even side characters are rich in background and all serve a purpose.

This story centres around lovely , leafy Dublin Suburbia.

Told through two different timelines
1985, and 2018.

We follow a young family moving into their new home.
A home that holds secrets, because over thirty years previous, a little girl Lily, disappeared during a game of hide and seek with the local group of kids.

2018, and Joanne has moved in, with her husband David Steadman and their three young kids

David loves the house, and the area, because he spent his teenage years here.

Joanne, not so much, but that doesn’t mean she doesn’t have a connection to the area.

So, Joanne sets out to find out exactly what happened to the three year old Lily.

Why?

Because she has a connection that she wishes she didn’t through her own mother.

A mother that , as far as her husband is concerned, died tragically.

Oh. The lies we weave.

As we drift between 1985, and 2018 Joanne uncovers a horrific history that’s attached to her house .
About Lily’s parents .
The glamorous American Mary m, and her drop dead handsome husband , Robbie.

About the parties, the relationship s between neighbours, and how nobody shows you there true selves .
