Publisher's Summary

Faced with losing everything, all that matters is here and now....

Marigold has spent her life taking care of those around her, juggling family life with the running of the local shop, and being an all-round leader in her quiet yet welcoming community. When she finds herself forgetting things, everyone quickly puts it down to her age. But something about Marigold isn’t quite right, and it’s becoming harder for people to ignore. As Marigold’s condition worsens, for the first time in their lives her family must find ways to care for the woman who has always cared for them. Desperate to show their support, the local community comes together to celebrate Marigold and to show her that losing your memories doesn’t matter when there are people who will remember them for you....

Evocative, emotional and full of life, Here and Now is the most moving book you’ll read this year - from Sunday Times best-selling author Santa Montefiore.

Slow moving but touching family story

It was a nice story about a daily life of a family living in a small village where the mother coped with dementia. It was slightly slow moving which made me change the listening settings to 1.3x. I enjoyed the love story of Daisy and Tarryn.

Touching & believable- loved it!

Beautifully crafted story from start to finish. I absolutely loved the story! Such a spiritually uplifting story. It is so well written & believable. An open & fascinating insight into dementia & how it affects the person & their family. Heartbreaking, yet uplifting. This story reminds us all to live in the moment & to see beauty all around us in the here & now. Pure brilliance! Thank you!

Important subject, slow pace, terrible narration

The voices used by the narrator were terrible, and spoiled the story. The subject was dealt sensitively by the author and I appreciated the way it was handled. I didn’t warm to Tarryn - what an entitled character.

Ok story, awful voices

The story was sweet and ok, nothing earth shattering.
However the narrators voices were some of the worst I have heard. Most of the voices sounded like heavy smoking men which was a little odd considering a lot of them were supposed to be old ladies. American accent was also dubious but the gruff, deep voices really put me off.

Comforting

I think we all have a fear of Dementia and of losing ourselves and our families but this relayed the experience in a gentle and reassuring manner. I am not pretending it is not a desperately distressing and can be disturbing but the way it was told here gave me comfort.

Love Life ‘here and now’

A beautifully written book, (audible version) this book captures everything that’s important in life, love, care and the ‘here and now’ thats what’s important - having just lost my own Mum to Parkinson’s dementia this book expressed her/the journey so accurately it was uncanny. It captured me from beginning to end. Losing a loved one with dementia can appear so cruel but always remember they are in there - always loved.

Here and now

Definately the weak link in Santa Montefiores novels. I was bored and listened to another novel inbetween. The accents the narrator used grated. So disappointing.

A struggle, dismal and depressing

I am really struggling to finish this heart sinking book. A painful subject and a dull story. After the disappointment of ‘Flappy Entertains’ I’m not sure I will return to this author, who has, until recently, been a favourite. What a shame.
