About this listen

If you knew when you were going to die, what would you do differently?

It all begins on a flight from Hobart to Sydney. The flight will be smooth. It will land safely. Everyone who gets on the plane will get off the plane.

But almost all of them will be changed forever.

Because on this ordinary flight, something extraordinary happens. 'A lady', unremarkable until she isn't, predicts how and when many of the passengers are going to die. For some, death is far in the future; for others, it is very close.

A brilliantly constructed story that looks at free will and destiny, grief and love, and the endless struggle to maintain certainty and control in an uncertain world. Liane Moriarty is a modern-day Jane Austen who humorously skewers social mores while spinning a web of mystery and asking profound, universal questions.

Editorial Review

Liane Moriarty always keeps me guessing
Between character, setting and plot, I’m pretty much always a character person. And while the characters in Here One Moment are each fascinating and complex in their own right, I was blown away by Liane Moriarty’s plotting. The narrative is so intricately layered, each detail so carefully placed, that it left me awestruck. Our central character, Cherry, is on a flight when she stands up and proceeds to predict the age of death and cause of death for the passengers on-board. What unfolds from there is a riveting and chaotic meditation on free will versus fate as the passengers deal with the predictions in different ways once back in their real lives. It’s a compulsive listen, performed by Moriarty’s longtime collaborator Caroline Lee as Cherry and Geraldine Hakewell as the other passengers, and one I will be recommending for the rest of the year. — Katie O., Audible Editor

I won’t say it’s what we’ve come to expect, this book was so much better. An intricate web of personal stories that were completely enthralling and which came together in such an unexpected and original way. Can’t recommend enough. So enjoyable.

This was truely a great read. Absolutely loved it. I think it tops all her others.
I love her modern style, The characters I felt I could really identify with. They had depth .. my favourite I admit was Allegra’s mum. The book was very thought provoking and made me question some of my own personal beliefs and also see ‘death’ through very different eyes. Highly recommend this book.

Best one yet!

I liked this story but wish I had read it in stead of listening. I found the ‘voice’ of the key character like nails on a chalkboard and it put me off somewhat.

The characters voices
