Publisher's Summary

This title contains mature themes, strong language, and sexual content. Listener discretion is advised.

Your husband’s dead. He’s never coming back. So why is he on a dating site asking you to go out with him?

Then

Linda has it all: a gorgeous home, a devoted husband, two loving daughters. But she throws it all away to chase an impossible dream.

Now

Linda is alone and penniless, living in a shabby rented flat. With nothing to lose, she signs up to a dating app for the over 50s. But the one man who responds to her profile, a man calling himself Tony Fortin, is not who he says he is.

Linda recognises him immediately. He’s Marcus, her second husband.

But that’s impossible. Marcus died eight months ago. He drowned off the coast of Corfu.

As Linda digs deeper, she discovers that the man she married second time around had been keeping secrets from her. Very dark secrets.

Now the one person who can help her is the person who has every reason not to get involved.

Her first husband.

Cringe

The narrator was fabulous. I listened because I wanted to know what happened. The style of writing was full of statements and descriptions that made me cringe

Story ok if you can get past the awful protagonist

Can’t give away why the lead is just pathetic. The story’s good but could’ve been streamlined which may have made it harder to be solved. Was very happy to be finished.

Interesting

Interesting concept for a book. Lots of twists and turns. Never known people to vomit so much in all my life though.

hateful character

A good page turner as it kept you guessing. The main character is so hateful & contrary it almost made me give up, but the promise of the reveal was tempting enough to keep listening. Narration was perfect.

Ok story but too many words

This book needed about half the words. It was a terrible edit. Went on and on saying the same thing in places or even contradicting. It seems completely unnecessary and annoying to listen to. I got through the whole book. But just to hear the out come of the pretty good story.

Incredibly long & drawn out

I think this could have been a better story if told with about half the words. So drawn out I skipped a heap of chapters to get to the end.

an awful main character

I did not like Linda one bit. The narration was good though. I had to put it on 1.5 speed to get through it and see how it ended. The last 20 minutes were the most boring...

It’s not usual that I despise the main character

This audiobook was different to most things I read. I just could not like the main character, it is definitely not a feel good story. It was sad & everyone seemed sad & bad.

How did I manage to finish this ?

The story had some potential but quickly disintergrated into a totally unbelievable mess.
The story lines just became so messy and convoluted.
The main character was a complete nutcase and so very difficult to empathise with.
Could have been okay but they dragged it on way too far.
if it wasn't a freebie I would have returned it.
