About this listen

"Buy my stepfather's ghost, read the e-mail." So Jude did. He bought it, in the shape of the dead man's suit, delivered in a heart-shaped box, because he wanted it - because his fans ate up that kind of story. It was perfect for his collection: the genuine skulls and the bones, the real honest-to-God snuff movie, the occult books, and all the rest of the paraphernalia that goes along with his kind of hard/goth rock.

But the rest of his collection doesn't make the house feel cold. The bones don't make the dogs bark; the movie doesn't make Jude feel as if he's being watched. And none of the artifacts bring a vengeful old ghost with black scribbles over his eyes out of the shadows to chase Jude out of his home, and make him run for his life....

Loved it right from the start. Narrator was awesome, made me giggle when he was doing the female parts with southern accents 😀. Joe Hill is now my secound favorite auther, sorry no-one beats his Father, Stephen King. will be getting a few more books from Joe very soon.

Amazing, like father, like son.

The story is fantastic! Joe hill is a mastermind. The narrator is also great. Unfortunately this audiobook sounds like a recording of a recording. So grainy and blurry

Great story, dodgy audio

This is a thrilling and entertaining story with perfect narration. I love the different voices!

Thrilling story with great narrator

Loved the story and the performance, but ruined by the awful musical interlude between chapters. Startling so and jarring when caught intently listening to the story and then the music kicks in, and in some parts it’s so loud over the narration. I’m unsure if this is supposed to be purposeful but if so could have been done more cleverly

Very eerie, with one issue

Read well, suspenseful as hell. Joe Hill is fantastic in this early story of his

Just as good as the first time

I found the music intro and outros very annoying. The story itself was good and the narrator did a good job. But the stupid music was very distracting. Admittedly this was only for about 1 minute in total of the entire book, but it pissed me off anyway.

Good story, but irritating production

Loved this book. well written and well paced. loved the character development. Book was well read. one and only complaint was the jarring music in between chapters.

I have read all Joe's books now. This is my favourite. His genes are showing!

WOW

Captivating from start to finish, at no point does the narrative seem to drag or slowdown, as suspenseful and chilling as it is smart and endearing.

The narration is great, although it did take a few minutes to adjust to, the reading is excellent throughout.

Highly recommend this and any of Joe Hill's work.

Intelligent take on the modern ghost story

The author weaves a great ghost story and the reader does it justice. Had me finishing it quite quick. My second Joe Hill book. I will be getting more.

The characters were compelling. A twisted wee ghost story.
