I first read this in about 1980, and I like the story. I’m really disappointed with the reading of it though. I think the narrator has put a lot of effort into trying to keep the tone lively, but the pitch is all over the place, the rhythm all wrong, and the acting and emphasis very weird. It would have been better had she just read it normally.
