Interesting, however not long enough. Definitely had some valuable take sways / learnings about mind set, competing, preparation and attitude & mindset toward training from listening to the book, but wish it was a bit longer and went into more detail about his thoughts etc.

He’s a great role model for competing and ill be listening if he released another book.

Of note: I love sport / competing, but don’t do CrossFit or weights etc… so for those who do, this may get extra stars for the chapter and PDF provided (neither which I personally valued because it didn’t apply to me)… where he goes into great detail the technique / method to increase performance on a number of CrossFit / weight lifting exercises…

Overall, its not the best book I’ve listened too, but it was good and I don’t regret my purchase… easy listen too 👌👍

Was a bit surprised that so much time was wasted explaining what things were... like how to complete basic Crossfit movements in layman's terms.

Otherwise it was good to hear his story and get some behind the scenes insight.

Disappointed that Mat didn’t narrate the book himself, especially given the brevity. Was expecting more of a ‘chasing excellence’ vibe, with more about mat’s personal story. Still a champion, and enjoyed the read, but felt it could’ve been so much more.

I’m always a little unsure when books aren’t narrated by the writer however this was done well. Interesting look into the psychology of competing by one of my favourite athletes.

I used to CrossFit, not anymore but I’ve learnt a lot about myself from the 6 years of doing it. How my body reacts, how to handle niggles and how to listen to my body.

Mat explains everything he did and has given me some ideas to implement on my current non CrossFit fitness regime. Worth the listen if you’re into fitness.
