Afterlife...just some gothic nightclub where gossip is fuelled by the presence of a rich and unearthly, handsome family or afterlife...the strange place where time seems to stand still and guests feel the presence of something more powerful held within the confines of the VIP. Keira is new to this small, cold town and is running from a past that seems to feast on her darkest memories. I was just a data analyst. I paid my taxes on time. I used to feed a cat that wasn’t my own and bake cookies for the office. I was a good girl. How was my reward finding myself penniless, broken down and stuck on the side of the road with everything I owned piled in the back, and all because I was being chased by the Mob? But then again, I must have had some luck left or he wouldn’t have stopped.

When a bunch of misfit orphans all find themselves on a bus heading towards a new life, one called Afterlife, it wasn’t quite what they had in mind. But even fate can play games and five teens will soon find themselves asking even more questions than ever before. Questions about an uncertain future in this new world and the very first one on the top of that long list...what does the King of Heaven and Hell have in store for them?

But hey, at least I get to wear a pretty dress on my date. Now all I can hope for is that it isn’t one where people end up shooting at us again. That would be nice. As for Dominic Draven, the king of all supernatural life, handling just one little mortal named Keira should be no problem for him…right? Wrong! I keep my head down. In this backward pack, females rank low, and my bad leg makes me damaged goods. It doesn’t help that I’ve never shifted. I don’t mind the late-20s single life, though. No one’s paying any attention as I build an illicit farmer’s market empire. My roomies and I are doing it for ourselves, and if life under Killian Kelly is stifling, at least it’s predictable. We can deal. But when biology finally kicks in, I lose my mind. I claim our alpha as my mate. And he rejects me in front of the whole pack.
