About this listen

A classic Christie mystery. Read by Hugh Fraser who plays Hugh Fraser in the popular TV series. At a Hallowe’en party, Joyce – a hostile thirteen-year-old – boasts that she once witnessed a murder. When no-one believes her, she storms off home. But within hours her body is found, still in the house, drowned in an apple-bobbing tub. That night, Hercule Poirot is called in to find the ‘evil presence’. But first he must establish whether he is looking for a murderer or a double-murderer…

I found Mrs Oliver somewhat irritating. Hugh was his best as usual. Agatha s story good .

Snappy Dragons & Narracist

At times I felt that this had an air of Enid Blyton meets JK Rowling. I have never listened to any Agatha Christie books before. I can see why these books have been so popular.

Fun and enjoyable

Decided to pick this up because of the new movie -- the movie is NOT AT ALL LIKE THE BOOK + the book is heaps better.

One of Christie's best works.

I was so convinced that I knew the murderer. Great themes of greed and mystery, as per usual! Hugh Fraser is like a friend now, his performances are always so excellent.

I didn't see it coming!

I only listen to it because of A Haunting In Venice. The book and the movie are so different. I did not see it coming. I would highly recommend.

Only listen to because of movie

Not one of Christie’s best, a plodding drama with uninteresting characters that progresses at a snail’s pace. Hugh Fraser does his best with dull material, but it isn’t enough to save it.

Very Dull Story
