Story
All women want to kill their husbands some of the time. "Where there's a will, I intend to be in it", wives half-joke to each other. Marriage, it would appear, is a fun-packed frivolous hobby, only occasionally resulting in death. But when Jazz Jardine is arrested for her husband's murder, the joke falls flat. Life should begin at 40, but not with life imprisonment for killing your spouse.

Story
Tilly has the day from hell when she's sacked from her barristers' chambers in the morning, then finds her husband in bed with her former best friend in the afternoon. She escapes to her mother, Roxy - a sassy solicitor whose outrageous take on men, work, and family life is the despair of her more conventional daughter. Roxy comes up with a radical plan for their future - they'll set up an all-female law firm which will only champion women who have been cheated, put upon, attacked, ripped off, or ruined by the men in their lives.

Story
Written 20 years ago, Puberty Blues is the best-selling account of growing up in the 1970s that took Australia by storm and spawned an eponymous cult movie. Puberty Blues is about "top chicks" and "surfie spunks" and the kids who don't quite make the cut: it recreates with fascinating honesty a world where only the gang and the surf count. It's a hilarious and horrifying account of the way many teenagers live, and some of them die.

Bad Advice Throughout - If You're Sick You'll Get Worse
- By Anonymous User on 13-01-2024
Publisher's Summary
Ruby has always been the generous mediator among her friends, family and colleagues, which is why they have all turned up to celebrate her 50th birthday. But after a few too many glasses of champers, Ruby's speech doesn't exactly go to plan. Instead of delivering the witty and warm words her guests are expecting, Ruby takes her moment in the spotlight to reveal what she really thinks of every one of them. She also accuses her husband, Harry, of having an affair and reads to the audience the evidence she found on his phone that very morning.
Saving the best till last, Ruby lambasts her calculating octogenarian mother for a lifetime of playing her three daughters against each other. It's blisteringly brutal. As the stunned gathering gawks at Ruby, the birthday girl concludes her bravura monologue with the throwaway comment that she has terminal cancer. She has cashed in her life savings and plans on taking her two sisters cruising until she dies. Courageous? Or ruthlessly selfish?
But, do they even want to go with her? And, was it her medical results she read?

This grows on you
The colloquial Aussie humour was a bit trying although it did make me laugh at times. The story was a bit far fetched but the underlying message to women of the importance of finding yourself and living your best life was so valuable. Thanks Kathy

A bit full on…
I nearly didn’t make it past the first half an hour due to the narration I kept having to fast forward until the beginning part was over….
It was quite crass in parts and sometimes quite funny as well. I persevered and found myself invested as I went along.
The story being about my sort of age bracket possibly helped. This book definitely not for everyone but overall I did enjoy it.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It is so well written and I loved the characters. They were so relatable. I love listening to anything Jennifer Vuletic reads. Such a talented narrator. I loved the way that the story was unpredictable, Did he? Did she? Will they? Bravo!

The HRT takes a while to kick in. Worth persevering.
I nearly stopping listening after the diatribe in the first chapter read with a ridiculously drunken voice but with some perseverance I ploughed on and to use a colourful descriptive phrase so often found in the chapters “ the sown seeds began to grow”.
The book is peppered with this colourful descriptive monologue which at times is irritating in length ( if god were a women ) and sometimes very witty.
I enjoyed it in the end as it came together and resonated with me as a women of a similar age.
