Søren Christensen har samlet en lang række folkeeventyr fra hele Europa og genfortalt dem på dansk. De stammer blandt andet fra Tyskland, Slovenien, Portugal, Rusland, Italien og Frankrig, som alle har en lang og spændende tradition for folkeeventyr. Eventyrerne kan læses af både børn og voksne.
Søren Christensen (1910-2009) blev født på en gård ved Ringkøbing. Han var uddannet lærer og tog filosofikum ved Aarhus Universitet. Han underviste i mange år i tysk, engelsk og latin. Søren Christensen var en meget produktiv forfatter og udgav et væld af bøger, hovedsageligt genfortællinger af folkeeventyr og sagn. I 1983 modtog Søren Christensen Danmarks Skolebibliotekarforenings Børnebogspris.
