Publisher's Summary

“My family could accept me being gay, but not trans.”

James is in trouble. His family turned their back on him after he transitioned, and he was forced to start his new life without them, but now he's paying the price. Buried in debt, his last chance is to start a business with hunky carpenter Ryan and hope that they succeed. The one thing he can't afford is a distraction, but what if Ryan is the only one to see past it all and love him inside and out?

“Strictly-business is hard around you."

Ryan Hart doesn't rattle easy. From lazy contractors to being the last single friend, nothing bothers him until he meets James. Ryan's new business partner pushes him to follow his dreams, even though he faces problems Ryan's never considered. Ryan doesn't back down from a challenge or from threats to his business, James's hard-won privacy, and their future together. As business partners, of course. Nothing more.

“I can't believe they don't see you as the man I love.”

They both know mixing business with pleasure is a bad idea, but the pull between them is too hard to resist. Can Ryan have it all with the clever, caring, bossy guy who's won his heart?

Grind is a steamy gay romance novel with a HEA ending and no cliffhanger.

A deliciously steamy listen!

This was such a steamy listen!
I loved the chemistry between James and Ryan. Michael Dean's narration really brought the characters to life and made it all the more real.
I adored how the author portrayed James's character as a trans man.
The storyline was engaging and the characters were likeable, relatable and well fleshed out.
The audio delivery was absolutely brilliant as well!

Don't end!!!!

James a trans man in the process of figuring out his life after leaving his family and hometown. James and Ryan meet and they end up becoming business partners.
They try to keep their attraction to each other at bay, but it is a losing battle. I loved this book so much and am so sorry to see the series to come to an end. I can't wait to see what this author has in store for us in new books.
Michael Pauley's narration is absolutely amazing as always.

I truly became myself with you

Ah, a transgender love story. I really love unconventional love stories and I was really excited to get another love story of Riley brothers and I wasn’t disappointed.

James was abandoned by his own family after he came out as trans. Being a trans man is already difficult but it even harder when your family has given up on you and you have to start everything from absolute zero again. And then he met Ryan, who’s understanding, patient, loving and kind. But the catch? He’s his business partner.

It’s an interesting dynamics between two lovable men. I love that James was upfront with Ryan and told that he was trans straight away. And I also like how patient and understanding Ryan was with James. And business aspect and woodworking was interesting too. All in all, a really enjoyable story.

James and Ryan's Workplace Romance

Construction worker Ryan wants to start his own woodworking business and unemployed James, with his business acumen, is just the man to help. They come together as business partners, and maybe something more.

Davies tells the love story of Ryan and James with low-angst, great bantering dialogue and tie-ins with characters from the previous books. The scenes that specifically address the FTM transgender subject are authentic to my cis-gendered female ears. These guys will make you smile with their cuteness.

Narration is performed by the ever-brilliant Michael Dean. I really like the way his reading style enhances the stories in this series. Davies and Dean make an excellent author/narrator combo.

Oh my - had me blushing

Wow!!! This Writing is fantastic and the narrator has a way of making you feel the sexual tension between James and Ryan. Not only the main narrator but the what I assume are supplemental narrators for some of the dialogue. This was truly hot - a few times I blushed listening. Can’t wait to listen to the next one in the series

Loved this book!

I absolutely adore Ryan and James! Their story is very tender and sweet. I love the chosen family that the men in this series have and the support they show each other. This support extends to significant others, too which I like. I would recommend the entire series!

Sensitive Love Story Concludes Riley Bros. Series

I've listened to all of the Riley Brothers audio books and have tended to like each one more than the last, which is somewhat ironic seeing as the later stories get further away from the brothers themselves, and that proved to be the case with "Grind" as well. Here, friends-of-friends Ryan and James go into business together and, for most of the story, manage to tamp down their mutual attraction to keep things professional while their friendship and working relationship develops. There is real chemistry between the two, and both are thoughtful, loving and considerate men. There is some mild conflict with Ryan's hostile co-worker and James's obstinate, unaccepting mother, but like all the books in the series, it's a fairly low angst, feel-good story written with sensitivity.

"Grind" can be enjoyed as a standalone but all of the series couples do appear and one takes a big relationship leap forward, which will be all the more meaningful if already familiar with the series. Narrator Michael Dean delivers another solid performance, as he's done for each book in the series, with distinct voices for all of the characters. I received this free review copy audio book by request and have left this honest review voluntarily.

Superb ending to the series

It is really hard to be informative about topics such as trans issues and still create a perfect, steamy romance with fully developed characters but E. Davies has done that expertly here. I guarantee you'll learn things you didn't know but you will never feel like you are reading a book solely written to transmit a message. James and Ryan are fully 3D people that you will love and root for. Michael Dean does a wonderful job here of bringing all the characters to life and conveying all the emotions. He was a great choice for this story.

Great conclusion to this series

This is the 6th and final book in the Riley Brothers series and it is a great way to close it out. This is a more unusual story than the others in this series and it tackles some sensitive subjects in a really nice way. Ryan and James are like two halves of a whole and it was really sweet to see how they came together. Michael Dean does a great job of narration as usual.

Their Perfect Match

Ryan had a dream of having his own business selling his wooden crafted item's but had no idea how to do it and James had a Business degree, no job and credit card debt.....together they were a perfect partnership.

This was a great story featuring some difficult subjects but it was done beautifully. I really enjoyed hearing their story.

Michael Dean Narrated fantastically, I could feel the emotions in his voice as he read their story.

Redoing this series on Audio ❤️

The last book of the series and I have loved listening to them all on Audio.

James is trans and his family haven't been the most supportive.
Having to fend for himself emotionally and financially, he starts up a carpentry business with Ryan, but he fancies Ryan and knows he cannot mix business with pleasure as there's too much at stake.

This is a long slow burn book but with a HEA, and it also finishes up a few loose ends with the other couples.

The whole Riley brothers series books are hot. Great narration from Michael Dean, love that these books are written as points of view.

James and Ryan

James and Ryan are wonderful characters. This is such a sweet story, full of heart, it grabbed from the start. I'm a minority when comes to Michael Dean, I find his narration a hit or miss. I feel sometimes his pace is off somehow, he speaks too fast with little to no pauses and skip commas. However, fortunately it occur just a few times in this audibook.

An amazing end to the series!

A very sweet end to a great series. I really enjoyed how much I learned about the trans community from this story. I loved the way Ryan researched so he could make James feel more comfortable around him and knew the politically correct things to say.

I thought the angst level was perfect in this story because there was so much family drama going on with James anyway, so he needed the reprieve in my mind. Another great Riley Brother's addition!
