Slow

Slow is an understatement. Also, the narrator keeps mispronouncing Appalachia! Very annoying. I’m used to Americans mispronouncing words but it still gives me the shits.

Oh Dear!!!!

Where does Gray Mountain rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

It's up there with other good books I have read but it is not great.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Gray Mountain?

The end!!!!!!!!!

What does Catherine Taber bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you had only read the book?

The characters.

If you made a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

I wouldn't it has such a dreadful ending with no hint of a sequel.

Any additional comments?

This had all the makings of a great novel but to end it on such a way was the last straw for me. Is there a sequel coming out???

What a painful lead character

This story dragged itself along like a three legged dog and was repetitious and slow.

The lead character, Samantha, was a completely unsympathetic, detached, cynical and uninteresting woman who failed to improve in the telling.

The subject, coal mining and its dreadful human and environmental impacts, had the makings of a ripping narrative which Grisham absolutely failed to deliver.

Don't waste your money. It's writing by numbers.

Boring

This is the most boring book I have ever read, I ended up skipping half the chapters just hoping it would pick up, it didn’t. The narration was toneless, nearly put me to sleep. Storyline was terrible, very disappointed.

Very disappointing

I spent hours listening to this waiting for something exciting to happen but there was nothing .It had the potential to be a great story but it just does not come together and you are left with an unfinished story ... plus the naration was very flat the same depressed sounding voice wether having sex, hearing a shooting or in court etc there is just no change ..I love John Grisham books but sadly I cannot recommend this one ...

Expected more

Felt the story hadn't reached its end, left hanging on what happens to the court cases.

Very entertaining

This book has a bit of everything in it. Romance, suspense, relationship issues and has highs and lows. The pros & cons of mining and job loss is a very current issue.

Not the best of John Grisham

I kept listening, thinking it'll get better and it didn't. I didn't like the accent either.
